Farmers Market Wedding: Katy and Tom
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Today’s wedding is stunning. I am having a hard time figuring out what I love the best. The flowers are gorgeous, to say the least, and Katy and Tom put so much thought into all their farmer market wedding décor details—everything looks perfect and so fitting!
Bride’s Comments: “We both grew up in California, Tom a native Nor Cal boy and me from So Cal. We met in the Sierra Nevada foothills when we were attending Chico State University and thought it was appropriate to have our wedding in the same setting. Hence we set out on a hunt for the perfect venue. Empire Mine in Grass Valley, California, seemed to fit the bill. A beautiful old English-style cottage complete with gorgeous garden grounds. It is also a California State Park and the sight of the oldest and richest gold mine in California’s history. This was just perfect for us as the location is right, the town is quaint for guests and filled with history, and it combined Toms love of geology (he is a geologist and works at a mine) and my search for old-world European beauty.”

“Now for the theme and feel of our wedding – definitely quaint and relaxed and incorporates or favorite times together. Some of our favorite memories throughout our relationship include strolling downtown farmer’s markets and traveling. We planned a two month backpacking trip through Europe when we graduated which changed our lives forever. We decided we wanted to incorporate these past times into our wedding, where guests stroll through our own personal farmers market during cocktail hour and travel via paper airplane to one of our favorite destinations as their table.
“Flowers were easy. Our time in South of France inspired Lavender! lots of lavender. I also concocted lavender sugar favors and we had orange lavender butter cream cake and lavender lemonade. We had to have our puppies, Chubs and Olive, included in the wedding since they are basically our children.
Tom decided to brew his own beer for the wedding using our puppies as inspiration. Chubs was the ring bearer, of course.”
