Where did you buy your wedding invitations?
My husband and I are both designers so we had a specific vision. We designed them and had them printed through Smartpress.com (which I highly recommend!)
What types of flowers did you have?
“My bouquet and the flowers for the tables had hot pink and coral peonies, peach ranunculus, king protea, orange pin cushion protea, white anemones, succulents, air plants and lemon leaf. The bridesmaids bouquets were a gathering of pink and white wildflowers and the boutonnieres were made from craspedia (Billy Balls).”
What was the best advice you received when you were planning your wedding?
“The best advice I received was to try to take time to enjoy the process, rather than count down the days to your wedding, not lose sight of your vision (but also not get carried away), and to soak up as much of the day as possible because it goes by so quickly! My advice to other brides would be to not stress over the small things, because at the end of the day you will have married the love of your life and it doesn’t get any better than that!!”
How many guests did you have?
“We knew we wanted a relatively small wedding so that we wouldn’t lose the intimacy of it. We invited 80 and had a final count of 75.”
Ceremony Music
“We had a string trio to perform all of our ceremony music. During the beginning of the ceremony they played The Beatles ‘All you Need is Love’ and ‘Here Comes the Sun’, The Postal Service ‘Such Great Heights’, Elton John ‘Your Song’, Iron and Wine Flightless Bird, and Bright Eyes ‘First Day of My Life’. The processional, brides entrance and interlude was all the same song, which was the string trio playing Arcade Fire’s ‘Wake Up’ and the recessional was the string trio to Black Eyes Peas ‘I Gotta Feeling’.”

What were the highlights from the ceremony and reception?
“The biggest highlights to us were exchanging our vows that we wrote, saying ‘I do‘, dancing (definitely dancing) and the number one highlight would without a doubt be when we jumped into the pool both still fully dressed in our wedding attire – shoes and all. Afterwards all of our friends and family jumped in and we continued the dance party as a pool dance party. It was the most fun I have ever had!”
Describe the Bride’s Attire
“My style was elegant with a touch of whimsy. I wore a Jenny Packham dress. The style was called Aspen. My shoes were strappy metallic with an art deco feel to them, by Vince Camuto. I kept my makeup simple and wore a side fishtail braid to give a slight bohemian touch.”
What did you give your bridesmaids as a gift?
“I gave them each a bracelet and candle.”
Describe the Bridesmaids’ Attire
“The bridesmaids wore flowing, romantic, floor length gowns in shades of blush and gray by Anthropologie’s wedding line BHLDN. For their shoes I just asked that they be gold and metallic.”
Describe the Groom’s Attire
“The groom’s attire was classic and a bit swanky. He wore a black suit with white french cuff shirt and a black and white polka dot tie. His suit was by Express Men and his shoes were by Aldo.”
What did the groom give to his groomsmen as a gift?
“He gave them colorful argyle socks and whiskey.”
Wedding Favors
“We gave out mandarin oranges and CD’s with a soundtrack that we thought portrayed the overall feeling of the weekend (quintessential Palm Springs cool), as well as the music that we used in our ceremony and throughout the evening.”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“Our schedules this past year did not allow for us to take our honeymoon, so we will be going this summer to Central America.”
Is it possible to find out where the bride got her ceremony lace backdrop? Did she make it or where did she buy the material?
Hi Agnes,
The ceremony backdrop they used was purchased from Urban Outfitters. Here is a link: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=31517535&category=A_FURN_WINDOW
This looks like such a planned out and fun wedding. The colors, the whiskey and nacho bars, all the signage are wonderful! I love that they jumped in the pool at the end of the night, too.
