Wild Flower Wedding at Winter Park Farmers Market
London is a little chilly this morning, but the animals are telling me that spring is in the air. Every time I look out the window there seems to be either a pair of eagles in the tree, two squirrels chasing each other on the fence, or 3 pigeons doing a dance and trying to impress their lady friend.
The wild flowers in today’s wedding reminded me that soon enough we will start to see the spring bulbs blooming – I love this time of year!
Where did you get your wedding inspiration from?
We wanted our wedding to reflect us. We pictured simple, fun, and fresh! With the Farmers’ Market, we got all of that and more! We loved the simplicity of the market itself, and decided to base our theme off of that. We started with galvanized watering cans, and built up from there: terracotta pots, wood accents, wild flowers, and lace.
Details about your dress
This was probably the most stressful decision in regards to the wedding. I had never pictured myself in a traditional wedding dress and wanted something that I felt myself in. When I came across Grace Loves Lace online, I immediately needed to wear one of their designs. I tried to love dresses that I tried on that were local, because ordering a dress from Australia was terrifying! Ultimately, I kept going back to the same dress, and just took a leap of faith without trying it on or seeing it in person. I couldn’t have been happier- those girls are magical! My dress fit perfect, and did not need a single adjustment. I decided to remove the rosette that was attached to the shoulder of the dress, which I in turn wore in my hair.
A budget breakdown for the wedding
The venue was absolutely ideal. It served as both the ceremony and reception sites. The Farmers’ market allowed us to bring in our own food and alcohol which allowed us to compare prices and purchase individually.
We always said we wanted simple, amazing food, and catering a BBQ buffet with 4 Rivers smokehouse saved us thousands compared to a sit-down caterer. We also cut our floral budget in half by not only our flower choice but also by going to a local flower shop in Lakeland and transporting the arrangements ourselves. Stationary was a printable template we purchased through an Etsy shop, along with paper we ordered offline.
DIY decor, and lots of price comparisons on products allowed us to keep within a small budget, and splurge on the more expensive aspects such as our amazing vendors and my dress! Total price of everything came to around $11,000.
Any tips you would like to provide to brides to be?
At the end of it all, it is the bride and groom’s special day, and they should never compromise what they have always dreamed of and pictured for themselves! Hiring a coordinator, if even just for the day, is 100% necessary. I couldn’t have been more thankful to have everything handled for not only my husband and I, but for our wedding party, friends, and family as well. All we had to focus on was love and a beautiful day!
