We are oh-so-thrilled to be sharing Sarah and Chad’s Maine wedding today! It’s absolutely brimming with beautiful inspiration and steal-worthy details, and no wonder! The bride, Sarah, runs the delightful event planning & design business, Daisies & Pearls.
From Sarah: “Event details fell right into place for Chad & I, upon visiting the historic Whitehall Inn for the first time. The Inn has been in operation since 1901 and was all too perfect for the backdrop to our dream wedding; right down to its charming farmer’s porch lined with wicker rockers. Vintage postcards featuring the Whitehall Inn were mailed to our guests asking them to kindly save Friday, August 6, 2010 for our wedding.”

PinSarah got creative with the floral design, crafting ribbon boutonnieres, organza hair combs, and fabric clutches for the bridesmaids. Her bouquet was the real showstopper, made out of vintage flower brooches collected from family, friends and shops!
PinSarah and Chad wanted their wedding to have a “vintage summer garden party” feel. Since poppies are the ultimate summer flower, red poppies were prominent in all the details, from the invitations to the escort cards.

PinTheir venue, Whitehall Inn, owned a vintage typewriter once used by Edna St. Vincent Millay! Guests used it to write their well wishes for the newlyweds. Sarah handcrafted number tags resembling typewriter keys, which she adhered to clothespins. They served as escort cards and anchors for the paper poppies.
PinThe table decor was full of personal meaning. Chad’s fondest childhood memory is bottle digging with his grandfather. Thus, it was only fitting that they used his grandfather’s vast antique bottle collection in the centerpieces. Each one held a single stem of a red dahlia, snapdragon, or zinnia. The finishing detail was the table numbers, which featured Sarah and Chad’s beloved dogs, Daisy Mae and Pearl!
PinThe reception’s crowning glory was the dessert table, which looks so very scrumptious! It featured vanilla and red velvet cupcakes with fancy cupcake liners and toppers. Poppies made of gum paste were the perfect accents!
