Wedding Story
Photographer’s Comments: “When I think about this wedding and look at the collection of photos, the word I think of is Luxurious. Not in a showy, garish way, but in an elegant, quiet way.
“That’s a great way to explain Kaitlyn. She’s beautiful and elegant, yet she loves to let loose and laugh. Every time she looks at Julian, her face softens and she gets a ‘Isn’t he dreamy?’ look in her eyes. He comes into view, and suddenly she’s fourteen again with butterflies in her stomach. It’s honest and adorable.
“California has no shortage of beautiful villas and wineries. The couple chose Viaggio because of the lavish mansion and sweeping, stunning grounds. The bride wore a high-end designer gown by Monique Lhuillier, with long sleeves, which is the height of current bridal fashion.
“She paired the gown with gold sparkly Jimmy Choo heels, a rhinestone belt, and long veil. All the details from this wedding are very elegant. We had use of the gorgeous mansion on the property, which isn’t available for every wedding. The bride’s aunt rented it for the entire weekend.”
Bridal Q & A
Q: Tell us about your wedding!
“We both love fall. We became an “official” couple 10/2/2011 so we wanted to get married around the same date. 10/14 was available so we went for it! It was also important to us that it not be too hot, as we live in Sacramento where the heat can easily turn a happy day into a miserable one.”
Q: Let’s talk wedding decor
“It was important to us that we choose a venue that required little additional decor. The reception area had twinkle lights and options for ceiling draperies so we went with that and kept it simple with centerpieces.”
Q: What were the florals like in your wedding?
“Our florist did an AMAZING job with bouquets, centerpieces, and a garland for our ceremony arch that we re-purposed as our head table centerpiece.”
Q: Did you personalize the day in any way?
“We had a close friend who is a bartender create two signature cocktails for our cocktail hour. We also had some pizzas served towards the end of the reception to help soak up some of those cocktails” ;)
Q: Let’s talk fashion
“I wanted a gown that had an old world feel but was still very current and on trend. I knew I had found my dream gown as soon as I tried on my Monique Lhuillier gown. I can’t imagine a more perfect gown for me!
Q: How did you meet?
“We were friends for years before we started dating. We had been together for 4 years when he popped the question at Lover’s Point in Monterey, CA. This has become our place and we’ll be making a trip there at least once a year to relive that special day.”
Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
“Walking down the aisle to my groom. I was so nervous! I thought I would fall or misspeak during the vows. I’m super shy and was scared to have so many eyes on me but once I was at the alter I didn’t care about anything but marrying the love of my life.”
Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
“Get EVERYTHING in writing. If you have any phone conversations with coordinators, vendors, etc. be sure to record the entire conversation (just be sure to disclose that the conversation is being recorded at the beginning of the call). Unfortunately, people can be very shady and you don’t want to have any unnecessary stress due to said shadiness!”
