Wedding Story
Bride’s Comments: “Portsmouth, New Hampshire has a special place in my heart. I grew up in the area, I opened my boutique, Pretty Little Things there, and my fiancé, Patrick and I fell in love there. It is the perfect mixture of small town with big city feel. I knew it would be where I wanted to get married. “I wanted our wedding to be a mixture of rustic Portsmouth charm and high fashion details. Owning a boutique and working in the fashion industry I knew aesthetic was going to be important for my wedding. I almost instinctively viewed it as a fashion photo shoot. “When I tried on the Remmington Gown by Hayley Paige with its gorgeous tulle and floral embroidery it felt like the perfect choice to fit in with the rustic feel that our reception at Mombo Restaurant had. I then added the Anna Marguerite Crown, Kate Spade Lydia Heels, and cathedral length veil as high fashion details. “My wedding florals by Wanderbird Floral were all based off the colors and pattern in the Alana Dress by Donna Morgan which my maid of honor wore. Every detail was worked into a cohesive overall look. “So as they say you can plan everything but of course you can’t control the weather. The night before it started raining hard and lasted the entire day. I had worried about this the whole week leading up and it was funny because it just didn’t seem to matter the day of. My maid of honor had joked she was expecting a complete bridal meltdown and was shocked to find me in good spirit sipping on prosecco as Wink Salon and JoLouise Beauty worked on hair and makeup. “I was so excited to be marrying the love of my life and overwhelmed with love and support from friends and family that everything just seemed to work out. “Getting ready at the Wentworth By The Sea Hotel, I made a last minute decision to change my hair to that amazing Daenerys Targaryen braid to weatherproof it. As I placed the crown on my head, I couldn’t help but feel like princess.T “he ceremony itself was such a blur of excitement and anticipation. I don’t remember much other than holding hands with Patrick and smiling. I swear it was over so fast and then Patrick and I were off just the two of us holding hands running through the rain to the 1957 Chevy Belair. “We switched our photography plan because of the rain to inside our ceremony location at the South Church. The light was perfect and I couldn’t of been happier with the stairwell shots of Patrick and I. Sometimes the most mundane places like a stairwell of a church can become so beautiful. “We did manage to get a couple of shots of us in Prescott Park, which was the original plan! Casey Durgin, our photographer was brave to put herself out into the pouring rain to get the shot. I even venture to say the rain made our day more unique and special. “Also, apparently it is good luck. Sometimes the unplanned can be even more beautiful than the planned. Our night concluded with so much dancing under the twinkling lights at Mombo Restaurant that I destroyed my Kate Spade shoes, but I couldn’t of been happier. “Surrounded with all the important people in my life I celebrated the beginning of a new life with Patrick.”
