9 Unique Wedding Invitations that Should be on Your Stationery Wishlist!
Greetings, fabulous readers!
As you know, we’re pretty picky about the products and organizations we endorse around here. If we haven’t tried it ourselves or don’t have reliable firsthand info about the company’s reputation, we don’t talk about it.
L&L reader, meet Paperlust. Paperlust, meet L&L reader.
(Yes, this is a sponsored post from Paperlust).
We’ve browsed ideas for unique wedding invitations in the past. And after investigated more about what Paperlust has going on, we had to share this online stationer with you. Great invitation design inspiration popped up over and over, and we knew we had to work with them to create an outstanding article.
Before we get into all of the wedding invitation ideas, we thought you’d want to know that Paperlust matches a bunch of designs from their wedding stationery suites to wedding websites hosted by WithJoy.com (we’ve written an article on them in the past that you can check out). If you haven’t already thought of creating a wedding website, do it. It’s a game-changer!
Order your stationery from Paperlust, and create a wedding website on WithJoy to match.
B-O-O-M. One less detail to stress over before your wedding day.
Also, you’ll look suuuuuper put together with zero extra effort. Now, let’s go shopping and find that perfect wedding invitation!
Unique Wedding Invitations
1. Arch Wedding Invite
The arched silhouette of these romantic invitations is unique in itself, but there’s a selection of styles available in this design format to accommodate any wedding aesthetic.
The shape reminds us of a canopied arch over the altar for exchanging vows. Which naturally made us think of rustic or bohemian wedding themes. Which naturally made us think of flowers. We love flowers.
If you’re looking for a rustic wedding invitation, our fave here is Grove by Haley J. This particular invite features the new technology of white ink font printing. The process gives the stationery an elegant, luxurious edge- especially when paired with darker-colored card stock.
Love Boho? We loved Vine Arch by Daisy R. There’s something so formal about bordered wedding invitations, and this one marries the wistful mood of bohemian style with formal elegance perfectly.
2. Half-Arch Wedding Invitations
With a really contemporary, artistic feel, these half-arch invitations would be fantastic for an evening rooftop wedding or a wedding with a unique venue like a museum or library.
Don’t know what we mean? You obviously haven’t read our piece on collegiate wedding venues. Check out number seven – and prepare to be dazzled.
We immediately thought of those sophisticated, unconventional venues when we saw Edges by Breanna F.
On an artistic note, we recently published “A Wedding Blogger’s Guide to the Top 15 Wedding Blogs for 2021” (phew, that was a mouthful), and in it, we predicted that weddings with artisanal touches would be on-trend this year.
Well, a perfect example of what that looks like is Harvest by Haley J.
Ready to jump on the fine art bandwagon?
3. Angular Wedding Invitations
The angular design of these eclectic wedding invitations conveys an exceptionally modern style that we love.
Modern Romantic by Beatrice T. might be our fave in this category. The colors are just beautiful, and the uncomplicated sophistication of the design is so classy.
But then again, the juxtaposition of fonts and design on Linear by Jamie L. captures that metropolitan flair beautifully too. If you’re looking to host a formal wedding, it definitely has a black-tie vibe.
Both are fantastic wedding invitation ideas for an evening wedding indoors or a sunset event on the terrace.
4. Square Invitations
Square invitations are an enticing option no matter what kind of themed wedding you’re dreaming of.
A square format is beautiful for traditional wedding invites like Botanica by Stella M. (LOVE the gold foil option).
We also dig watercolor themes with a dab of modern, like Burgundy by Brinie L. Bold color, romantic design- they’d be just perfect for a garden party wedding.
If you’re looking for elegant wedding invitations, check out Medinilla by Shab M. It’s simple and minimalist but definitely not boring. It would work just as well for a winter wedding at the country club or a dressed-up barn wedding at a ranch.
5. Tall Rectangular Invitations

The unconventional shape of these invitations gives them decidedly regal flair with a feminine vibe.
The bold modern art-deco design of Milos by Haley J. immediately caught our eye, and the foil printing is just perfect. Dream with us for a second here: Picture a daytime wedding loaded with white tulle and gold accents, geometrically inspired centerpieces, and a jazz quintet. This is the invite, amirite?
We think the delicate floral design of Amaranth by Inggrid H. is a beautiful example of colorful wedding invitations done right. It would be just lovely for a garden or brunch wedding.
Oh, and if your wedding style can be described as whimsical, Royal Wedding by Inggrid H. is exactly what you’re looking for. It’s perfectly playful and super fashionable all at the same time.
6. Photo Wedding Invitations
When they first showed up on the scene, photo invitations were seen as a departure from traditional wedding invitations. Sure, they aren’t your grandma’s invitations, but they’ve been around long enough to earn their own space in the wedding invitation lineup.
That said, photo invites can be playful, too, which is why we really love Celebrate by Stella M. If we got that invite in the mail, you can bet your bouquet we’d be there, champagne flute in hand.
Like their other invitation formats, Paperlust offers a generous variety of digital photo invitations you can edit and personalize directly on the website before you order.
Upload your photo, and specify the text. You can also add names to be printed right on the card.
Don’t have a list nailed down yet? No problem – you can also add wedding guests names to your order after checkout.
7. Postcard-Inspired Wedding Invitations

Postcard formats are perfect for a destination wedding theme, or to play on the “wish you were here!” vibe. We like Beach by Amelia S. because the abstract, artistic design is beautiful, and gold foil lettering gives it just the right amount of fancy. Also, we really want to go to the beach right now!
Postcard-inspired invitations are also a great way to send out a simple notice to let everyone know the deets. If you’re having a smaller wedding or want to keep it casual, this format is a great choice. (Psssst- they’re also a lot less expensive to order and mail than traditional wedding invitations.)
8. Magnetic Invitations
Want to make your wedding invitation wording super easy and practical? Magnets may be the answer. Paperlust offers an option to order stick-on magnets with your design at check out, and we’re all about it.
We think the shape and boarding pass design of Blue Paradise by Mai H. is an ideal candidate for a magnetic invitation, but you can magnetize any invitation you wish.
9. Save the Date Calendars
Diamond Love by Patrizia T. is such a sweet vellum paper save the date calendar! It’s part of an awesome wedding invitation suite complete with matching invites and a menu in gold foil. It’s vibrant, glittering, and modern. Three of our favorite adjectives!
Blanc Bloom by Joanna H. is an amazing example of just how interesting rustic wedding stationery can be. We think this save the date is particularly special and captures the rustic aesthetic because you can opt to print it on wood! Not sure about a wood-etched save-the-date calendar? It’s also available in white ink on gray paper for a simple, rustic feel.

Wishing You Luck on Your Wedding Planning Adventure!
We’ll admit it – we are certified wedding nerds. It is what it is.
We love everything about the wedding planning process: choosing a color palette and theme, helping the bride and groom pick their perfect wedding day attire, or shopping for a stationery suite.
But you have to admit, it’s exciting when something small yet impactful (like the design of a gorgeous wedding invitation) sparks your creativity. Before you know it, you’ve designed a whole wedding around it — kind of like designing an entire ensemble around a fabulous handbag in a daring color.
We hope you’ve enjoyed meandering through these unique and utterly charming wedding invitations as much as we have. Our goal is to provide you with the inspiration and intel to make planning your big day easier. And to help you shop. Our goal is shopping, too.
