Last weekend I got together with Renae from Leona Lane and Aileen from At Home In Love to throw a baby shower for our friend Jenn. We wanted the day to be really intimate and laid back, with some girl time before Jenn’s life changes drastically, so we kept the guest list small and only invited her closest friends. The theme was “About to Pop” so we tried to incorporate “pop” into every aspect of the day.
Just a warning: I forgot to bring my camera so all the photos are taken with my phone.
Our decor consisted of a DIY splatter painted POPsicle table runner, painted soda POP bottles with flowers, and garlands made from cut out paint chips. We used bright colors to make the details stand out (or POP if you will).
To make the table runner all you need to do is tape the popsicle sticks together on one side, flip it over and start splatter painting! It’s an easy project, but makes a big impact!
The favors were push POP containers filled with saltwater taffy’s, which also served as place cards at the table.
We also hung some of the cut out paint chips from the chandelier to spice it up!
The food for the shower didn’t really go together, but they all had the word “pop” so we went with it. We made white chocolate confetti POPcorn, a lemon POPpyseed cake, POPsicles, and had sodaPOP. It was all super yummy—especially the popcorn (you can find the recipe we used here).
The only thing that didn’t have anything to do with the theme (besides the fact that it was a baby shower) was our activity. We tried to steer clear of traditional shower games and opted for a fun, useful thing instead. We bought a bunch of plain white onesies in different sizes and had everyone paint a design on them. I went with arrows because they are pretty hard to mess up on.
We hung all the finished masterpieces up on a garland with mini clothes pins—aren’t they cute?
I also designed the invitations and have it in the download printables section for you to download for free!
