Wedding Story
Amanda and Zach put together a gorgeous rainy spring wedding. Even with the rain their day was breath-taking!
RAINY SPRING WEDDING
Bride’s Comments: “We wanted to have a bright, spring garden wedding with a vintage feel and it had to be in my hometown of Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. There is currently only one place in Bloomington that could accommodate this type of theme: Ewing Manor – a Tudor revival mansion on a large estate with beautiful gardens. Our colors were spring-inspired: mostly pastels, mints, aquas, peaches, and corals. Most of all, we wanted the idea of love to ring through all the details, so most of them were hand-made with the help of Pinterest.”
Find the same beautiful garter set on Etsy from Beads Broaches Bridal.
What was your Favorite Moment?
“My favorite memory was the ceremony. While we planned to have it on the open lawn of the venue, plans changed due to rain and cold weather. Moving the ceremony to the arched walkway (our planner’s idea) proved to be intimate, unique, and beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the part where my husband suddenly reached out and rubbed my arms during the middle of the ceremony, warming away the shivers and goose bumps.”
Advice for Other Brides
“The best investment you can make is to hire a fantastic photographer (photos last forever!) and wedding planner/director. Although I made most of the décor myself, our planner was critical in directing us to the best vendors in the area, setting up and directing the wedding day and rehearsal including arranging the flowers, and constructing an amazing rain plan for our outdoor wedding.”
Is this not the cutest wedding cake topper that you have ever seen? Great idea using a Hummel figurine from 1957 that the bride found on Etsy.
“Most importantly, try to let go of the things you can’t control and enjoy the day! Especially if it rains- paper parasols can be used as umbrellas for guests, a good tent will keep everyone dry, and a good photographer will make any weather look beautiful!”
