Their Story
I was blown away by this wedding when I first saw it! It has such beautiful and unique reception decor, which includes a fun wine tasting bar and hanging floral centerpieces. Not exactly a DIY friendly wedding, unless of course you have a couple of woodworkers, an engineer, and a good leveling tool. I would worry that perhaps guests would not be able to see each other through the centerpieces. However, that worry is washed away with the unique and clever floating centerpiece design.
The bride and groom opted out of a bridal party and kept the guest list reasonably small. Their beautiful and unique backyard wedding looks like a million bucks, and will ensure guests talk about it for years to come.
Overall Theme
“Both the ceremony and wedding were held at my parent’s house. We wanted all our guests to feel relaxed and at home, while enjoying the natural beauty of the day.”
Wedding Planning Challenges
My mother and I had some different visions as to how the day would go. She had a more traditional viewpoint, but in the end we were able to compromise and were both extremely happy.
Where did you save money?
Savings were realized naturally. For example, we preferred a DJ over and a live band, and had a small simple wedding cake, along with other smaller desserts, rather than a large and lavish cake.
Wedding Flowers
I wanted bright summer colors, so we used a variety of garden flowers including roses, dahlias, tulips, hydrangeas and others. I also wanted to maintain a natural feel, so we used a lot of greenery.
Wedding favors
We had a photo booth, where guests were able to dress up and take fun photos home.
