Stunning Fall Wedding at Aspen Glen
The fact that most of these photos look like models in a styled wedding shoot is testament to the stunning location – a fall wedding at Aspen Glen – coupled with the photography of Daniel Colvin. A great combination if you ask me, but you be the judge below.
Overall theme for the Ceremony and Reception
Remarks from the bride: “The overall theme for our wedding was a Rustic Mountain retreat, a journey between the mountains with a quiet outdoor ceremony at the end. Inspiration came from our love for the Colorado mountains where we once lived, and my love for nature.”
Where did you buy your Wedding Invitations?
“We bought them from Wedding Paper Divas.”
Describe the Bride’s Attire
“I wore a Jim Hjelm dress that I hadn’t seen in person before. It came as a wonderful surprise when I tried it on! My shoes were a gold and silver hue with wedge bottoms so my heels wouldn’t sink in the grass. The morning of the wedding I received beautiful diamond earrings from my husband-to-be, and those were worn for the wedding. They matched my ring perfectly!”
Bridal Veil
“I ordered a veil with ivory flowers stitched inside it from Twigs N Honey online boutique.”
DIY & Details
“My dad and I made the decorations together which was fun and saved a lot of money. We found old tree trunks and branches in the woods and made them into table card holders, a tree trunk cake stand, and candle holders.
“Since my bridesmaids were traveling for the wedding, I let them pick everything. I wanted them to feel like they were on vacation. The only rule they had was to pick a dress in some shade of purple. They chose their own hairstyles, jewelry, and shoes. My advice to brides is to let their bridesmaids have some fun with the attire and just help guide them on the length and cut of the gown.
Best Advice you Received while Wedding Planning?
The best advice I ever heard was to stop and smell the roses. Don’t get too caught up in the planning…remember to look up and enjoy the little things along the way!”
Wedding Florals
“A multicolored wildflower assortment including daisies, zinnias, and buttercups.”
Ceremony Music
Processional– Pachelbel Canon in D
Brides Entrance – (Christina Perri) A Thousand Years (Piano/Cello Cover)
Recessional – Spring Vivaldi
Highlights from the Ceremony and Reception
“The seasons had begun to change the week before our wedding and everyone was nervous about the outdoor ceremony. Each day before the wedding there was freezing rain and the leaves had begun to drop. The drive to the town was slippery and snow was forming on the mountain pass. On our wedding day, the sun came out for the entire day. It made for a beautiful, breezy, sunlit event against the backdrop of majestic Mt. Sopris. We loved taking photos in the fields and then talking with the guests by the fireplace outside. We had guests come from all over the world and the speeches were phenomenal. The next day after the wedding, the sleet came again and gave us a cozy family gathering inside by the fire.”
Bridesmaid Gifts
“My bridesmaids jewelry gifts came from my jewelry boutique. They also received a teapot gift set purchased from from Spa of the Rockies.”
Describe the Bridesmaids’ Attire
“My Maid of Honor wore a gown made by Watters, and my bridesmaid’s gown was purchased online from JJ’s House. Their shoes were made by Jessica Simpson and Cole Haan.”
Groom’s Attire
“The groom’s suit was custom made in Jackson, Mississippi by Jack Victor. He wore a black Salvatore Ferragamo belt & Gucci Shoes. His purple tie was made by Robert Talbot.”
Groomsmen Gifts
“The groomsmen received their suits and ties as their gift, purchased from The Rouge in Jackson, Mississippi.”
Budget Breakdown
Wedding Favors
“We sent everyone photo gifts from Shutterfly.”
Where did you go on your Honeymoon?
“We stayed for a night at the Bell Tower Suite of Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs and said goodbye to our guests on Sunday. Then, we traveled around the Hawaiian Islands and stayed at The Ritz Carlton Maui, and Koa Kea Resort.”
