5 Mason Jar & Firefly Wedding Invitation Ideas

Is the mason jar wedding theme alive and well?

It seems like this simple jar invention by John Landis Mason in 1858, was posted across weddings everywhere only a few years ago. So much so, that there seems to have been a bit of a backlash against the poor glass vessel.

“No more mason jar weddings!” was the cry from many popular wedding blogs, vendors, and media outlets like Huffington Post.

In fact, a quick Google Trends search of the past 10 years shows that, indeed, the mason jar wedding may have reached its peak in the summer of 2013 and has slowly declined since then.

That doesn’t stop us from taking a look at this seemingly staple wedding decor item: the humble mason jar.

Some brides fall in love with one particular decor item and use it as inspiration to plan an entire wedding theme. The mason jar proves to be that perennial decor favorite.  Enough history talk, it’s time to take a look at some of the best mason jar themed wedding invites for 2019 from popular online sellers!

It seems that with mason jars comes an expectation of fireflies buzzing around in the night sky. I will always remember my first time witnessing the twinkling wonder of fireflies whizzing around in the night sky. It is a magical experience that everyone should have the opportunity to experience at least once in a lifetime!

    Mason Jar Themed Wedding Inspiration

The three real weddings below have some great ideas for how to use mason jars as centerpieces, decor, or even as drinking glasses. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination when it comes to this versatile decor item.

Now, if only we could capture some fireflies in our mason jars we would be set! Remember, though, that these wonderful bugs were not meant to exist in captivity. If you capture them, enjoy their glow for a night. Then, release them back into a damp, vegetated area so they can live out the rest of their days.
