Yellow and Grey Wedding at Umlauf Sculpture Garden

This whole wedding looks like something out of a dream.  We always look forward to material from Simply Bloom Photography. Combining their beautiful photography with this amazing wedding at Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum has really put a smile on our faces. Using touches of real flowers (mostly DIY décor) Fina and Nathan put together this gorgeous event which was held in Austin, Texas.

Photographer’s Comments: “This beautiful eco-conscious bride is known amongst her peers and friends to recycle any type of object with the least bit of potential and transform it into something beautiful and useful! Fina and Nathan were married at the Umlauf Sculpture Center in Austin, TX and their wedding was simply put, a beautiful quirky creation.  The yellow and grey colors were soft and stylish.  We are serious when we say that, every single little detail was planned with a picturesque feel and consciousness.  What we loved most about this event, was that everything about it seemed to shout the bride and groom’s styles and depict who they truly are.”

Meredith and Tommy’s Wedding at Sherwood Forest Clubhouse

We are so excited to share today’s wedding, shot by the talented Kristen Tourtillote. There are so many great details that we know you’re going to love! Meredith and Tommy are both from Annapolis, Maryland and their venue, the Sherwood Forest Clubhouse, is a private golf club where you have to know someone who lives there to book it. Built in the 1920s, Kristen calls it something straight out of Dirty Dancing. A clubhouse for rich businessmen and their families to party at and get drinks during the humid summers.

The bridesmaids all chose their own dresses and shoes–and they worked together beautifully.

We love “first look” moments…so sweet.

Meredith’s dress, from Lex Bridal in Annapolis, was so beautiful! She accessorized it with a pretty sash from J.Crew.

The bowling alley was one of the golf club’s activities. It still had the original pins and balls!

Meredith and Tommy’s program was so personal and unique–we love the idea of sharing your love story rather than just a timeline of events. So much more fun for the guests!

Tommy’s mother and aunt did all the flowers–and they did an amaaaazing job. Meredith’s bouquet was truly stunning.

How much do you love that deer staring them down as they said their vows?

The reception was held in the main dance hall of the golf club. The decor was so lovely–strings of globe lights hung from the rafters, lots of natural light from the big windows, and gorgeous floral arrangements in wooden boxes built by Meredith and her dad!

We also love the Scrabble placecards. Seriously, how great are Scrabble tiles? They are so versatile and adorable.

The lovely cake was made by Fiona’s Cakes.

To get a more in-depth look at Meredith and Tommy’s gorgeous wedding, watch their video, captured perfectly by Monachetti! Make sure you see the dance party at the end.

Chris and Brandy’s Wedding

Today we’re sharing a sweet DIY backyard wedding sent to us by New Orleans photographer Maile Lani. Brandy and Chris met in high school when Brandy came to class late and the only seat left was next to Chris. Seven years later, they got married!

Brandy’s dress was from J.Crew. She also had a second dress–her grandmother’s vintage 1950’s dress that she changed into for the reception.

Brandy’s grandfather pulled his bright red 1957 Chevy into the yard for photos.

The reception space was so beautiful! Brandy used an assortment of vintage china with mismatched cloth napkins and the cutest little white flower napkin rings. She also made colorful bunting banner garlands that she strung up around the tent.

Who would have guessed that sheet cake could be so lovely?

What a sweet wedding with so many great details! To see more, visit Maile’s blog here.

Succulent Themed Wedding in Santa Monica

If you’re a succulent fan, you’re going to love this wedding! Annie and Gero have a succulent garden at home and since Gero is something of a “succulent whisperer”, they incorporated them throughout their wedding.

The bouquets and succulent boutonnieres were created by Ann’s Flowers. The stems of Annie’s bouquet were wrapped with one of her mom’s handkerchiefs.

The ceremony and reception were held at The Victorian in Santa Monica.

Gero handmade all the succulent centerpieces which looked amazing. Go DIY groom!

We love the chalkboard markers they used to designate the table numbers.

Instead of a big wedding cake, Annie and Gero had cupcakes with a small two-tier cake for them to cut. The cupcakes, by {love+cupcakes} are so cute!

Thank you to Heidi for sharing this lovely wedding with us! To see more of it, click here!

Sunny Yellow Color Scheme for Whitney Oaks Wedding

Stacy and David’s wedding took place in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and it’s absolutely gorgeous! Bright pops of sunny yellow color go perfectly with the otherwise classic black and white suits, bridesmaid dresses, cake, and decor.

The venue was the Whitney Oaks Golf Club and the photos were captured perfectly by Kate Harrison.

Aviation Themed Wedding in Wiley Post Airport Hanger

We’ve seen a lot of different props in engagement sessions and weddings, but Chris and Heidi pretty much take the cake! They had an airplane at their wedding! These photos, by Carl Zoch, are all so amazing.

The wedding venue was the Wiley Post Airport in Oklahoma City.

Aviator sunglasses were a perfect accessory!

We love that bouquet, and the bright and cheerful paper lanterns decorating the ceremony space below.

Instead of throwing rice or blowing bubbles, the guests threw little airplanes at the bride and groom as they made their way back down the aisle–tying in perfectly with their aviation themed wedding.

And the best part is, Chris and Heidi’s getaway vehicle was the airplane!! How awesome is that?

5 Bridesmaid Attire Inspirational Ideas Beyond the Norm

We thought we’d give a little attention to the bridesmaids today. Hideous bridesmaids dresses have been the butt of wedding jokes for years, but they don’t have to be! Here are some of our favorite ideas for bridesmaids attire that we would actually like to wear!

Bridesmaid Attire Inspiration

1. Patterned Dresses

Bridesmaid dresses don’t have to be solid colors! They look adorable in patterns, as proved by this bridal party and this one.

2. Skirts and Tops

Bridesmaid dresses don’t even have to be dresses! These bridal parties (by Rebekah Westover and Style Me Pretty) look chic in skirts and tops.

3. Cardigans

One of our all-time favorite ideas is different colored cardigans, like this awesome bridal party.

4. Mismatched Dress

Whoever said that bridesmaid dresses have to match? As long as the color and length stay the same, it looks fabulous to let your bridesmaids wear different dresses that reflect their different personalities. Images via Savvy Soirees and Heather Saunders.

5. Cowboy boots

We pretty much love the idea of bridesmaids in cowboy boots! They make for adorable pictures, as shown by this bridal party and this one.

We hope these ideas inspire you to break out of the “bridesmaid dress” mold. We promise you (and your bridesmaids) will be glad you did!
