Gorgeous Gothic Wedding Dresses & Accessories

In this article, we’ll dive into the fantastic world of gothic wedding dresses and accessories, including a roundup of our favorite gowns and must-have accessories. Need some venue ideas to make your gothic fairytale come to life? We’ve got a few of those too!

Have you been looking through page after page of traditional white wedding dresses and been completely uninspired?

We completely understand. Wedding style is not only a celebration of love and marriage, but a reflection of your identity as a couple.

For alternative couples, a traditional wedding style might not cut it. Thankfully, the market for gorgeous, one-of-a-kind alternative gowns — including gothic wedding dresses – has never been as popular as it is right now.

Come to the hauntingly beautiful side as we guide you through the gothic wedding style.

Why Choose a Gothic Wedding Dress?

Maybe you’re a little unsure about making such a profound wedding statement. Perhaps you might be afraid that your themed wedding seems kitschy to guests. Banish those fears once and for all! There are several great reasons to have the gothic wedding of your dreams. In addition, there are tons of locations where your gothic originality will look its best.

Celebrate Your Personal Style

If you stick to a cookie-cutter wedding plan, there’s a significant chance you and your guests will be underwhelmed. The best and most memorable weddings are a celebration of the couple’s style and personalities.

Your wedding celebration should say something about you as a couple. Give your guests a chance to celebrate the authentic you by choosing a wedding dress and theme you love. Plus, it gives them a chance to have a little fun with their wedding attire as well!

Perfect For Certain Times of the Year

Is your wedding date in the fall, when brilliant orange and red leaves litter the ground? Or, perhaps your nuptials will be held in the dead of winter, when the gnarled branches are bare and nature is waiting to come to life again.

Both these seasons are the perfect backdrop for a romantic and slightly eerie Gothic wedding. Don’t even get us started on October weddings. Your guests will fall head over heels for a Gothic-themed wedding around Halloween!

Venues Made For Gothic Weddings

Contrary to popular belief, there are many unique wedding venues that are accentuated perfectly by gothic weddings. Imagine sweeping down a spiral staircase in a castle in your gothic wedding dress, or saying your vows in the hushed parlor of a plantation home.

Here are some of our favorite venues for gothic weddings:

  • Historical Plantation Homes
  • Castles and Manors
  • Cemeteries, especially with sprawling crypts and mausoleums
  • Outdoor venues in Fall and Winter
  • Urban-Industrial Settings (think warehouses, old brick buildings)

Style Elements of a Gothic Wedding Dress

Gothic wedding dresses come in a variety of materials, cuts, and styles. You aren’t limited to looking like Morticia Adams! Some of the most stunning dresses created can even be in white.

One of the most wonderful parts of this theme is that there are tons of ways to express your gothic style. There are several haute-couture designers that play with unusual accents, color schemes, and concepts to deliver a gorgeous gothic bridal gown.

Here are the most common and iconic style elements to look out for:

  • Unusual Materials – An alternative wedding dress calls for alternative style! Many gothic wedding dressmakers use romantic materials such as velvet, black lace, and draping bead work to evoke an old-world romance. You’ll also see occasional macabre accents like crow feathers, along with bird or small mammal skulls and bones.
  • Rich Colors – Gothic style isn’t all about black, but it doesn’t incorporate neons and bright colors like some punk and steampunk dress styles might. It tends to pull from older periods of dress such as the Victorian period and accentuates this with velvety blacks, jewel tones like ruby red, emerald green and sapphire blue and delicate ivory.
  • Varied Silhouettes – Although Gothic style can be evoked from many silhouettes, most often you’ll see variations on tight corsetry or empire waists. Sleeves are varied as well, ranging from form-fitting lace or solids from neck to wrist, or romantic, billowing swathes of material that can even reach the floor!

8 Fatally Attractive Gothic Gowns

Not all goths are made alike.  In fact there are quite a few different styles to choose from.  We’ve rounded up 8 beautiful gowns fit for the Romantic Goths, Victorian Goths, Steampunk Goths, as well as the brides who are goths but need to tone it down to make grandma happy!

Romantic Gothic Wedding Dress

When it comes to romance, it’s all about the lace!  Romantic goths absolutely love lace and are known for sporting elegant lacey dresses, including long flowing gowns, corsets and frock coats.  The key take away though is flowing.  The more a gown can swirl, the better.  Although the go-to color for romantic goths is black, it isn’t uncommon to see additional hues of deep reds, purple, orange, blue and green to the ensemble.

As for accessories, they tend to accessorise with black or deep colored jewelry and lace chokers.  Goths tend to focus beauty and dark things in life, roses, both red, purple and black, are a common motif found on bracelets, necklaces or even in the hair. Romantic goths do sometimes look to Victorian goth for influence when they accessorise.

Victorian Gothic Wedding Dress

When it comes to the Victorian goth, its all about the refined Victorian era.  Victorian goths like black and symbols of the occult, however unlike other goths they are drawn to the ideas of a high society lifestyle, surrounding themselves with theater, tea parties, masquerades, literature and poetry.

If you are going to be a Victorian goth bride, you will want to incorporate the following to your ensemble; ruffles, bustle skirts, parasols, lace gloves and maybe even a top hat. Complete your look by heading to the local antique market to look for gem-encrusted jewels, chokers or skeleton-shaped lockets.

5. Victorian Goth Bridal Gown

by KMKDesignsllc

This Victorian style mermaid gown with cream silk and black detailing will emulate a high society lady to perfection. The artistic gathering of the lace bustle in the back is sure to make a statement.  And we love that the corset is designed to give the wearer a soft silhouette and not meant for dramatic shaping.  Meaning you can achieve the perfect Victorian shape with the cinch but still breath during  your big day.

Steampunk Gothic Wedding Dress

When it comes to Steampunk (we’ve written about dress styles here before) remember the style is inspired by tech and exploration, entwined with Victorian era and a sci-fi twist.  Brides should try and incorporate a gown with a corset, a frilly skirt, and perhaps a parasols for the day of. Look for gowns that include strappy belts in colors of gold, brass and brown. When it comes to accessorising, the more the merrier. Look for antique keys and gem encrusted brass earrings.

8 Freakishly Awesome Halloween Wedding Invitations

Halloween happens to be one of my favorite times of the year. Pumpkins, ghosts, gouls, and a high scary factor all play into making this annual Fall event a real treat for kids and grownups alike!

When done right, a Halloween wedding can be dark, entrancing, elegant, and super romantic. A few elements you can consider incorporating into your vision include:

  • Dark color palette
  • Textured rich fabrics
  • A moody atmosphere
  • Black lace accents
  • Caramel apples
  • Pumpkin decor
  • Trick or treat favors
  • …and candles galore!

Hosting a wedding celebration at Halloween time is a unique affair. Grandma might need more convincing, but I sure don’t! Now let’s get to the spooky Halloween wedding stationery goodness below.

Halloween Wedding Invite Ideas

Halloween weddings are not the most conventional of themes. You may have to search a little harder to set the right tone, especially when it comes to wedding stationery as Halloween themed invites can be difficult to find.  In fact, our go-to online stationer that we normally suggest (Minted), came up completely short with regards to Halloween wedding invites.

Halloween party invites on the other hand are a completely different story.

If you are stumped with where to start looking, try online shops like PurpleTrail, Zazzle, Etsy and Invitation Consultants.

From the looks of the online Halloween wedding invites we browsed, the design style spectrum ranges from boo-tiful, dark and elegant to throwing a cheesy spooktacular event.

Depending on the soiree you envision, finding something to fit the vision is totally possible. We decided to pull a few of our favorites for a list of top freakishly awesome Hallowedding invite picks.

After all, ’till death do you part’ takes on a whole new meaning at Halloween time! 😉

5 Peach Wedding Dresses We’re Blushing Over!

One of the trendiest colors included in wedding palettes every year is peach. Peach is flirty, feminine and seasonally appropriate for spring and summer. One of our very favorite trends to emerge from the peach and blush craze are peach wedding dresses!

We witnessed them on the catwalks of London Bridal Fashion Week, which means we’re seeing those dresses in bridal store windows as well.

Perfect in Peach

These charming bridal gowns are perfect for brides who want to buck tradition without pushing the envelope too far. After all, many brides consider peach and blush-toned wedding dress safe alternatives to traditional white gowns. To help inspire you, we’ve created a guide to peach wedding dresses.

Included in this article are styling and venue ideas. Furthermore, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite peach gowns for your consideration!

What Makes Peach Wedding Dresses So Popular?

Lightly shaded gowns in lavenders, champagnes, blushes, and peaches are outrageously trendy. Steadily, we’ve seen a departure from the traditional big ballroom wedding for more intimate venues. Large displays of florals, cakes, and linens are becoming more personalized, DIY and reflective of the bride and grooms personalities. One of the wedding trends that has changed over the years is the need for a white dress. Instead, gowns bearing a little touch of color reflect some bride’s tastes and personal style better.

In addition, peach wedding dresses are incredibly flattering against certain skin tones. Where traditional white gowns wash out brides with paler skin, peach shades can bring out rosy or golden undertones. The result is a vibrant, healthy looking bride, flush with romance on her big day!

Finally, a beach wedding dress is an excellent option for a bride who is remarrying! While second wedding dresses can certainly be white, some brides don’t want to commit a faux pas. Instead, they search out an off-white dress to keep with tradition.

Where is a Peach Wedding Dress Most Appropriate?

A non-traditional wedding gown is a perfect statement for nontraditional weddings. A blushing peach dress would look perfect at a boho wedding or more rustic affairs in the outdoors. In particular, a peach wedding dress would be stunning during a spring or summer wedding. Just picture portraits in a blooming garden!

A gown of this shade would also look gorgeous at a more casual beach wedding. Not only is the shade more warm and inviting, it would show up much better in traditional wedding portraits on the beach! Photographers often combat a glare and a loss of dress detail in the direct sunlight and reflection from the sand. A peach or blush gown would contrast beautifully against the blue ocean water, and wouldn’t throw off a blinding glare!

Here are our favorite venue types to wear a warm-toned wedding gown:

  • Garden wedding
  • Open air event venue
  • Backyard wedding
  • Villa or naturally-lit venue
  • Beach or waterfront location

Peach Wedding Gown Styling Tips

Something about this warm-toned shade evokes charm and femininity. When styling your hair and makeup for a peach wedding dress, we recommend you keep your look soft and romantic. Try soft, flowing curls or a loose chignon to achieve this look!

Your makeup should complement the dress and not clash with it. Bold red lips or too-dark eye makeup looks can look strange against the delicate blush shade of the gown. Ask your stylist to try warm, golden-honey or pink tones in your eye makeup. A mauve, nude or rose lip would look lovely, and keep your entire look warm, inviting and sweet!

Peach Wedding Dresses

We’ve selected some of our favorite peach wedding dresses from around the web. These stunning dresses are sweet enough for a blushing bride. Get ready to melt your groom’s heart — and your guests — as you make your way down the aisle in one of these gorgeous gowns.

1) Peach Long Sleeve Wedding Dress

3) Tiered Wedding Gown

This swirling straple3ss ballgown nearly swept us away with its show-stopping lace bust. The tiered skirt detail makes a flirtatious and lovely statement, floating delicately to the floor in a barely-there shade of peach. We’re in love!

Matching the Groom

The groom’s color palette should complement the bride’s as much as possible. Rather than choosing a black suit or jacket, we recommend he lighten things up with navy, light grey, or royal blue suits or pants. Whether he wears a tie or a bow-tie, he can match the shade of your gown easily. Here are some of our favorite peach neckwear options:

Mens Necktie Light Peach

by TieObsessed

Groom’s Light Peach neck tie

This tie would work for a semi-formal wedding that requires a matching peach look.

Peach Hopsack Linen Tie

by Etsy: accessories482

A linen bowtie or necktie works well for a rustic summer wedding in the heat. I could see it pairing well with a more casual look of a white dress shirt, suspenders, and casual attire.

Men’s Peach Floral Bow Tie

by AmandaJoHandmade

Groom’s Peach and Cream Floral Bowtie

This peach bow tie would pair nicely at a whimsical wedding that shows off the groom (and bride’s) quirky styles!

11 Perfect Wedding Dresses for a Second Trip Down the Aisle

Choosing a wedding dress is tough for many second time brides. After all, there are traditions and etiquette expectations to navigate. Luckily, society and wedding expectations are moving away from the stiff etiquette rules that governed second weddings in the past.

looking up at hanging dress

Instead of intimate quiet ceremonies followed by luncheons, remarrying brides are enjoying full-scale weddings and receptions. In part, this is because of the growing percentage of 2nd time around couples who pay for the whole wedding out of their own pocket. Holding the purse strings means couples can call the shots without worrying about the dreaded “e” word: expectations.

Still, some brides may be uncomfortable breaking with tradition, and that is okay! We’ve created this article with all the traditions and expectations for second weddings in mind. When you select your wedding gown and accessories, we want you to be prepared for all things second wedding dress.

As a bonus, we’ve rounded up our top picks that are perfect for the occasion.

Second Wedding Wardrobe Etiquette

Let’s break down the traditional etiquette surrounding second weddings for the bridal wardrobe, particularly the one burning question that often comes up first.

Can I Still Wear White?

Although your great-grandmother may clutch her pearls at the idea of not wearing a white wedding dress, this is actually a fairly new tradition. In fact, wearing a white wedding dress originated with Queen Victoria. Before her royal wedding to Prince Albert in 1837, brides of the time just wore their best dress.

The trend-setting queen launched a new world for the white wedding gown. A white gown traditionally symbolizes innocence, virginity, and purity. Because of this, it became a faux pas for a bride to wear white on her second trip down the aisle, unless she had a very short first marriage or had eloped.

Like we said, times have changed. Brides are bucking the restrictions of old traditions to celebrate their fairytale weddings, snow-white gown and all!

If you’d prefer not to wear white, there are ways around it. Many brides elect to purchase a gown in a gentle shade of ivory, ecru or even blush.

One piece of wedding wardrobe etiquette that hasn’t budged much surrounds the veil. Like a white dress, the veil covering the face is representative of youth and innocence. This carries a special meaning when the groom lifts the veil from his bride’s face for the first time. Because the bride is not traditionally given away a second time, the veil is also not typically lifted again.

Birdcage with Lace Applique

Brides seeking remarriage should instead experiment with face-framing veils, birdcage veils or even ornate hairpieces. A long veil cascading down the back and not covering the face is also acceptable for weddings that are very formal in style.

To Garter or Not to Garter?

Deciding to wear a traditional garter and participate in your garter toss is your decision. Let’s take a look at the meaning behind the garter toss to help you make your choice.

The garter toss dates way, way back to a time when guests believed the bridal garments would bring good luck. Back in the day, reception-goers would chase the bride around, tearing off pieces of her dress until she finally wised up and tossed her garters to the crowd instead. The tradition is for first-time brides, but luck is in the eye of the beholder!

The same goes for bouquet toss. The bride’s bouquet was considered good luck, and the woman who received it would be next to marry. Oftentimes the bouquet toss is painfully awkward for all the single women in the room, and your guests probably wouldn’t be sad to skip it. If you don’t want to do a bouquet toss at your second wedding, make a lovely speech instead and present it to someone special at the reception.

Second Marriage Gown Tips for Older Brides

When you are in your 20s or 30s a second marriage is easier to get away with doing it all over again – big dress and all. Almost as if the first time never happened. Take Megan Markle, can you name her first husband? Trevor Engelson who?  No images popped into our minds of  Megan walking down the aisle during her destination wedding in Jamaica on her FIRST big day.

But when it comes to older ladies, who may come with a little more noticeable baggage (i.e., children who are now all grown up), what exactly should an older bride wear? Well we think whatever she darn well pleases!

Choose something that flatters your figure and makes you feel good wearing. If that means a ball gown at 70, all the more power to you. Here are a few tips and suggestions for those round-two brides who want to feel beautiful, classy, and gorgeous on their big day.

Take Note of  Wedding Location

Having a casual backyard garden summer ceremony?  Think feminine and flowery.  Something like the dress pictured below would be a flattering choice for an older bride.  It shows off your feminine curves, has creamy champagne lace that still says bride, and you’ll stay cool and comfortable in the hot summer sun.  A very elegant piece for a summer wedding.

Embroidered V-Neck Wedding Dress with Tulle Skirt

Heading to the courthouse followed by a nice dinner out on the town? Not wanting to slip into a fancy frock?

Why not try a pant suit with a classic set of triple-strand cultured pearls like this ensemble below.

Style & Dare to be Different

Where to Dress Shop

If you have already walk down the aisle once before and blow an absurd amount of money at the bridal shop, you will most likely be wiser this time around and use your extra moola for the honeymoon.  Look online at bridesmaids dresses that come in champagne, ivory or blush that you can glam up with a sash or jewelry.  Be sure to steer clear of bridal shops and look for formal/cocktail dresses at department stores such as:

  • Bloomingdale’s: dresses for every wedding and vibe, a variety of cuts and styles made by top designers
  • Dillards: affordable dresses, as low as $70
  • Neiman Marcus

There are also many top online shops that offer amazing wedding gowns at all different price points, which you can read more about.

Second Wedding Etiquette Tips

There are a lot of traditions and etiquette tidbits revolving around second weddings that don’t have to do with wardrobe, either! While you’re dress-shopping, you may consider what your bridesmaids will wear. Here’s a heads-up on etiquette concerning the wedding party and the processional during the ceremony!

  • The bride and groom typically do not have a huge wedding party. Instead, one or two friends may “stand up” for the bride and groom during the ceremony.
  • There usually isn’t a processional of parents, grandparents, and wedding party members at a second wedding. Instead, the bride traditionally enters from the side.
  • As mentioned before, the father does not give away the bride again. Typically toasts like the father-daughter toast at the rehearsal dinner — if there is a rehearsal dinner at all — are also done away with.

Best Elegant Fonts For Your Wedding Invites

Have you ever scrolled through a website or walked past a sign and thought to yourself, “that is a really great font”.

Chances are a designer spent a lot of time deciding how that font would look — the height of the letters, the spacing, and the style. Fonts are one of the most important decisions in any readable design. Typography, or the style and appearance of printed matter, is a pretty exact science. It’s subject to little unknown rules and considerations that make a good design great.

So what does this mean for you in the quest for elegant fonts?

Your suite of wedding stationery such as Save-the-Dates, RSVPs, Invitations, and Escort Cards will all have fonts. Since you probably wouldn’t use Comic Sans MS to announce your black-tie reception, what these fonts looks like matters!

After all, it helps clue your guests into what to expect for your upcoming nuptials, and therefore decide what to wear!

Finding Your Elegant Font

If your wedding is set to be the most elegant affair of the season, it’s important that every part of your wedding reflect that. This includes your wedding stationery. Whether you have a designer on hand to help you with your dream design, a premade template or are going the DIY route, it’s important to know what makes a font elegant and how to pair it with additional fonts for the best impact.

Note: A font is the physical collection of letters, numbers, and symbols. The term ‘typeface’ is used to describe how a font looks. So, you might say, “I downloaded the font, it’s a very elegant typeface”.

If you search online for the best elegant fonts, all kinds of styles might come up. Some with serif (the little projections on the end of the letters), some sans-serif, and some even script.

More than the type of font, this is because what makes a font elegant is the clean lines, simplicity, and impact. This means you have a lot of room to work with your invitations to make them elegant and uniquely you!

Playing with Pairings

Chances are on you’ll need more than one font for a wedding invite. After all, wording the entire card in a sprawling script might mean no one is able to read it! This is where the art of font pairings and font duos come in. If you’re selecting your own font, there are a few things to keep in mind when pairing fonts:

  • You’ll want to pair a serif font (projections on the end of the letters) with a sans serif. Fonts will often clash or compete for attention if they are too similar.
  • You don’t have to use a ton of different fonts to get your message across. Use variants of the same font. For example, popular elegant font Bodoni has a Condensed Version, a bold Black version, and a Compressed version. You can also use Bodoni in bold, italics or uppercase letters to change up the look subtly.
  • Consider the order in which information is read, based on the typeface position, scale, and style. For example, the reader’s eye will be drawn to a large, bold script at the top of the invitation before they see the petite date and time towards the bottom.

To Serif or Not to Serif?

Depending on the style and tone of your event, you may want to use a serif font for as the primary font. Serif fonts tend to be considered more elegant, and slightly more old-fashioned than modern, rounded lines of a sans-serif.

However, that’s not to say you can’t make a serif font work to your advantage for a modern or even minimalist wedding. Serifs are very popular in print and editorial work, and there are several hubs available for custom-designed serifs so that you can find exactly what you’re looking for.

DIY Invitation Design

If you’re taking the reins on your wedding invitation design (fonts and all), one of the best resources to take a look at is creativemarket.com. Creative Market is a giant marketplace where designers all over the world sell their work. This includes invitation templates, logos, and fonts. It even showcases abstract pieces for your designs like watercolor stains, brush strokes, flora patterns, wallpapers and more!

For a nominal fee, you can purchase the rights to everything you need to design your invitations and wedding stationery.

In particular, there are several packages containing elegant font duos to get you started. Here are some of our picks from Creative Market:

1) Beautiful Grace

Prague by Jen Wagner Co

Prague consists of the pairing of two sans-serif fonts, but the contrast is gorgeous. One is an offset outline of the text, and one is a bold, clean sans-serif that give a refreshingly modern look to a wedding invitation. Purchase of the font duo also includes several line-drawn floral appliques for invitation design.

3) Melvin and Emily Font Duo

by Ivan Rosenberg

Melvin and Emily is another font duo that pairs a clean serif with an elegantly scrawled script. This font duo set also comes with several alternative characters and ligatures that can easily be put on any letter (the long, flowing line at the beginning and end of the letters.)

6th wedding anniversary card for couple

Traditional 6th Anniversary Gift

Traditionally, the sixth-anniversary gift is iron.

Why iron as a gift? Well, iron has been an important metal throughout civilization. Some believe it represents a strong bond between partners that is very difficult to break. It makes sense to give such an enduring, long lasting, or practical gift for the home.

Modern 6th Year Anniversary Gifts

Modern lists mark the sixth anniversary with candy or chocolate – hello, now your talking our language! Maybe just drop a few hints that your significant other should consider buying both candy and iron to make sure we cover all bases in this special anniversary year.

  • Calla Lily: the elegant, slender calla lily flower is the traditional flower for a 6th anniversary. It is unlike any other and symbolizes all the ways that each partner’s love has grown over six years of marriage. The calla lily is thought to posess a magical light source inside that radiates upwards – a great analogy for reflecting upon six years of marriage together.
  • Amethyst: The traditional gemstone for a 6th anniversary is a calming stone that helps promote calm, balance, and peace.

Why Simple Wedding Cake Designs are the Way to Go

The wedding cake often becomes the unofficial centerpiece of the reception. Brides and grooms-to-be spend hours pouring over cake designs, colors, and flavors. The end result is a masterpiece that will convey the style and theme of the reception.

Sometimes this may be why brides and grooms don’t think they can stick with a simple wedding cake. However, it doesn’t need to be a 15 tier masterpiece! The style of wedding cakes has trended towards a less-is-more approach. As rustic, intimate and simple become buzzwords for weddings, so has the search for simple wedding cake designs.

K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Sweetie!)

Less strain on your wedding budget isn’t the only reason to choose a simple wedding cake. Simple, timeless designs and cakes that focus more on flavor than presentation are on-trend. Plus, you’ll save so much mental space and energy in an already stressful planning phase by keeping it simple in the cake design. Finally, skimping on the fondant means you can put those funds elsewhere in your wedding on things that will matter more to you as a couple!

Simple Wedding Cake Design Options

Most cake bakeries tack on the charges for intricate designs, colors, and other elements. Looking for a little fondant, ombre effects, multiple colors, sugar flowers and gum paste figures? All of these will incur additional charges depending on the level of difficulty.

Here are some hacks when it comes to your cake design to keep the design simple and cost-effective!

Buttercream Instead of Fondant

You can cut your cake bill by a huge amount when you opt for French buttercream frosting instead of the design-friendly, firm fondant. Many bakeries upcharge for fondant by a percentage, and the resulting cost will get higher and higher with more servings.  Using buttercream instead will keep the design simple, and the cost low.

Stumped on buttercream frosting designs? There are plenty of ways to make designs in buttercream, such as ruffles, texturing and rosettes!

1. Buttercream Ruffles

buttercream ruffle cake with love cursive topper

An uber simple wedding cake from a recent real wedding, the appeal here is the buttercream ruffle cake set atop a rustic wood round base, topped with a word cake topper. I actually really like how the outsized cake topper works with the proportions of the cake and base.

2. Textured Buttercream

three-tier Textured Buttercream cake with floral embellishments

The textured buttercream from the three-tier cake below give it an added wow factor. Flowers placed diagonally from top to bottom really make the cake simple yet elegant.

3. Buttercream Rosettes

Buttercream Rosette cake on blue cake platter

A rosette cake topped with flowers is the ultimate in taking simple to the next level. Set atop a wonderful blue cake platter, this pair of cakes really pops!

Barely There Cake Designs

If you’ve truly taken less is more to heart, consider the ultimate simple cake design: a naked cake!

This particular cake design is perfect for rustic, earthy and intimate garden weddings. This design is incredibly trendy, with countless searches and saves on bridal Pinterest boards! You can dress up a naked cake with fresh florals from your florist, or an adorable cake topper.

Elevating Your Simple Cake Design

There are a lot of easy and simple additions to elevate the look of a simple cake. From having your florist keep a few clippings back to place on your cake, or ordering a custom cake topper, you’ve got options when it comes to deciding how to spruce up a simple desing.

Another trick you can try? Literally, elevate your simple cake design with a nice cake platter. Many wedding rental companies and venues even have lovely platters for a nominal rental fee. Or, check out our post on wedding cake stands and pick out a nice one that suits your dessert table design.
