Wedding Story
Erin of Dandelion & Grey is a seriously talented event designer based in Southern California. Her wedding was so relaxed and altogether beautiful! And the reception in the vineyard with globe lights strung above – swoon! We are so thrilled to share the gorgeous photos here today.
How involved was your husband with wedding planning?
“My husband, Greg, was very involved in the planning process. We had actually rushed and booked a different venue in an effort to try to begin the planning process, but one day shortly after we were sitting at dinner somewhere and confessed to each other that the venue didn’t feel right. We both had been faking our love of the place in order to make each other happy. Once it was all out on the table, we were able to be honest with each other about what we really wanted in our wedding day. First up was a new venue that was more ‘us’. Greg was also very instrumental in choosing our photographers, the menu, and he created our wedding playlist.
“I’m glad he was as involved as he was, because it gave us the chance to craft a wedding that was reflective of us both as individuals and as a couple.”
Do you have any advice for brides-to-be on how to get inspired for their own wedding?
“I think the best advice I can give brides to get inspired to plan their wedding would be to think about incorporating details that are meaningful to you and create a day that feels like an extension of you & your fiance. A good place to start is to think about what decor you gravitate toward for your home & don’t stray too far from what feels natural. Lastly, peruse the blogs and magazines as a place to gather new concepts and expand on your existing ideas, but don’t feel pressure to incorporate every idea you see, even though it’s tempting!“
Lots of brides are on tight budgets nowadays. In your experience, what are three things that are important not to scrimp on, and what are three things that could go?
“I definitely believe that photography is the number one thing you shouldn’t scrimp on! You can get married anywhere from a swanky hotel to your backyard, under a century old oak tree or on the beach but if you don’t have someone you trust to capture it, you risk missing out on amazing memories. This doesn’t mean you have to break the bank, but it’s a good idea to do some research and talk to several photographers to try to find one you feel completely at ease with!“
