DIY Flower Kits for a Wedding, V-Day, or Anytime!

Whether you’re preparing a centerpiece for a Valentine’s Day dinner or multiple bouquets for your wedding day, I have a quick tutorial to help you create your own flower arrangements that is guaranteed to save you time and money!

Vintage Cottage CenterpiecePin

A rose centric arrangement is perfect for Valentine’s Day or a wedding. I prefer to stay away from traditional red roses as they can appear old-school and intense. This is one of the most popular collections from Bloominous, an ecommerce flower shop that offers affordable and professionally designed DIY flower kits for weddings and events. DIY is considered a budget-friendly way to plan a dinner party or an event, but many don’t know where to start. Where does one buy quality flowers and materials at an affordable price? How do you prepping (de-thorning and trimming) your flower?

Bloominous takes the grunt work out by providing kits. The kits come complete with everything you would need to create a centerpiece or bouquet including: prepped flowers, instructions, ribbons, vase, pins, flower tape, and more.

Here’s an example of how easy it is to create a Valentine’s Day centerpiece in 6 easy steps:

1) Prepare your ingredients:

Lay out and organize your flowers by type across the table for easy access.  Fill the vase up to 3/4 full of water.  Add in half a pack of flower food

2) Place in greenery:

Place in the greenery first.  This will create a base and general shape of your flowers.  Remove any leaves that fall below the water line.

3) Add in the mums:

Add the white button mums as your filler flower next

4) Tuck in blush roses:

Place in the blush roses distributed evenly in the bunch

5) Add in the rest of the flowers :

Add in the lisianthus, carnations, white roses, and hypericum berries. Don’t bunch up the same colors or the same flowers in one area. Alternate what you add in so you can even out the arrangement naturally.

6) Finish it off with gypsophilia:

Tuck in the gypsophilia (aka baby’s breath) around and within the bunch.  Make sure all the stems are  cut down low enough so you don’t have any spacing between stems.

It’s that simple! Use the same instructions to customize your centerpiece by choosing different types/colors of flowers.

For the soon-to-be-brides looking to create a collection of centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres that are uniquely your own, Bloominous also offers a “Build Your Own” collection option that launched last week. Sign up for a custom wedding inquiry and you’ll receive a free 30 minute consultation with one of their experienced floral designers to determine the look and feel of your event or occasion. Bloominous does the hard work — designing, picking the right seasonal flowers and colors, as well as accessories and tools you’ll need to DIY.

Both the DIY Collections and “Build Your Own” option give you 30% to 50% off average retail prices.

One last tip: Spray your floral arrangements with hair spray (any kind) and store in a cool area. This will help the flowers last longer and look fresher. Hope you enjoyed this post. Happy Valentine’s Day & happy engagement!
