Bluemont Vineyard Wedding

Last Updated: March 13th, 2021Topic: REAL WEDDINGSby Meredith

I have set up a schedule for myself and I am going to try my darnedest to stick to it. Today my schedule is telling me it is Winery Wednesday!  I started Winery Wednesday just over 2  months ago and it came to a screeching halt the next week, never to be seen again.  Now it is back and better than ever with some great DIY projects!

Photographer’s Remarks

“Imagine our surprise when we learned that the weather for this wedding, at the Bluemont Vineyard in Virginia, would be rainy and cold.  And when I say rainy, I don’t mean a sprinkle or two.

No, I mean a record rainfall of 3.38 inches was set. Yeah, it rained that much. Here’s the thing though, rain doesn’t stop a wedding. The venue is still beautiful, guests still arrive, vows are still exchanged and love is still shared. We were impressed by how relaxed everyone was, regardless of the circumstances. One thing was clear, no amount of rain was going to ruin Chris and Nicole’s day.”

“The bride wore the headband that her sister wore in her hair for her wedding two years before.  She also used a piece of lace from her mother’s wedding dress and set of her grandmother’s pearls wrapped around the stems of her bouquet.”

“We purchased blocks of wood and wooden stands at Michaels and painted them with chalkboard paint.  We used these for the table numbers and wrote on them with pink and purple chalk.”

“The place cards were printed by the father of the bride on cards we purchased at our local Michael’s Craft Store.  The place cards were arranged on an old shutter that was given to me by a friend.  These can be found in almost any antique or thrift store for only a few dollars.”

“We also worked with a company that designed and printed the shower invitations, programs and tags for all the favors.  If you do multiple things with one vendor,  ask them for a discount.  We got a 10% discount on the items we had printed and they came out perfect.”

“We looked at a lot of internet sites and made some of the items that we found online ourselves.  One of the items that we made was the sign in book.  We made a shadow box frame and painted painted the little wooden hearts pink and purple and had people sign them and put them in the frame as our guest book.  We saw one similar online selling for almost $200.00.  We made our for under $50.”

“Lights for the tables were made out of mason jars, tiny purple battery operated lights, and clear beads.  They only took a few hours to assemble and cost us about $6 each.”
