Casual Florida Wedding
You can tell from the photos that David and Siobhan’s wedding was, above all, fun. Lots of whimsical details, smiles on every face, and a bride in a short dress (perfect for spinning) with a bouquet consisting of one giant hot pink flower!
From Siobhan: “We are both pretty eclectic people so we decided on things that looked good to us. We made an inspiration board of items that we liked on Pinterest, and our thought was if we like it, it had to go together. We found a set of cloth napkins from BHLDN.com and built a color palette around those. My family is very crafty and we wanted them to be involved so many of the decorations were made by my Aunt, Maureen, which also saved money. In the end we wanted a wedding that was fun and care-free with lots of color.”
Our favorite moment was the first look, hands down. We got great advice from our wedding planner Lori to take the time before the wedding to have a first look. We were hesitant, but in the end it was an incredible experience to spend an hour with one another before the ceremony to enjoy the moment and get some spectacular photos.
We enjoy the idea of a juxtaposition between our wedding party and us. So the groomsmen and bridesmaids were in colorful casual wear while we wanted to be in more formal wear. A tuxedo and a formal t-length dress allowed us to be “cake toppers” while sun dresses and sear sucker suits for the wedding party played well into the theme of a casual Florida wedding.
Advice for all you future brides: Probably the most important advice that we received was to enjoy the day. Inevitably things won’t go how you planned, but trust your many months of preparation. Make an effort to soak up your surroundings and the specialness of the event. When your standing at the aisle with all of your friends, family and loved ones make sure to pause, look into the crowd, and soak it all in. It’s like looking at your entire life in one room and it’s just incredible. The wedding goes by so quickly and if you don’t stop and look, it is very easy to forget. Besides that a good professional photographer and a wedding planner are by far the most important line items, forgo other things to afford them in your budget!
