Most Friday nights we cook Mexican food for dinner, so I thought it was fitting to feature a fiesta-style wedding — TGIF!
Kevin and Allison love to bike so Allison wore a convertible wedding dress and after the wedding ceremony she surprised Kevin by removing the bottom half of her dress allowing her to ride comfortably on the super cute yellow tandem bike together.

Bride’s comments:“Our overall theme was to have a laid-back, Southern California fiesta-style wedding. We just wanted a fun day with our favorite things: family, friends, bikes, beer, good food, and great music.”
Did you go over or stay under your budget?
“Our budget was $20K for our wedding, and we stayed pretty close to that. We spent money on the things that were most important to us – photography, venue, and food.
“We saved money in a lot of different ways. We used a student as our DJ and worked closely with him to create our playlist. We used bartenders that served our own beer and wine instead of a full bar (which was important to us since we were able to serve Kevin’s homebrew), and opted for a combination of cake and cupcakes which saved on cost and created a fun display.
“We also used a lot of potted plants (in pots from a garage sale), so that we spent less on fresh flowers. We did a lot of DIY for the wedding with help from friends and family – programs, invitations, decorations, centerpiece boxes, we also built our own wedding arbor for the ceremony – it’s now featured in our back yard. It also helped that our venue had so much character on its own that we didn’t have to go overboard with the decorations.”
