Desirae and Chris had a beautiful wedding ceremony at Shasta Dam. Who would have thought that a dam could provide such a stunning backdrop for a wedding!
Different style bridesmaid dresses in a stunning coral blue color. If you’re looking to buy bridesmaid dresses online at Dessy, look at either ‘Coastal’ or ‘Spa’ for a similar matching color. Dessy does have a good selection of plus size dresses as well.
The reception was held at the Elk’s Lodge in Redding. It has huge windows that face the Sacramento River. The venue was decorated with old books, tiny wire frame bird cages, along with more of those fantastic Etsy flowers!
What We Love
- The birds nest and egg laying on an open book is such a cute idea for a ring shot.
- I absolutely loved the faux flower bouquets that Desirae found on Etsy. They were made of bark, paper, and pearls and the light pastel hues look so beautiful with the bride’s dress.
- Love seeing natural moments of newlyweds under the bridal veil!

“On the way up to the dam, we stopped at the McConnell foundation for separate pics of both the bridesmaids and groomsmen. The oak trees and golden grass there are so beautiful in the sunlight. We love how the greens and yellows and browns mix to make such a beautiful backdrop!
“Desirae and Chris set up their ceremony at the dam so it looked out over the lake, and after the ceremony we walked out onto to the dam itself for some of their formal shots together and with their wedding party.
“The Diestelhorst Bridge is right next to the Elk’s Lodge, so part way through the reception we made our way over there for a few minutes to do sunset pics — they turned out amazing!”
