This lovely couples got down and dirty to bring their vision for their wedding day to fruition.  (Oh silly, get your mind out of the gutter!) What I mean is that they spent many months not only giving the groom’s grandparents property a face-lift and deep clean, but also created many of the personal touches found in this rustic-chic backyard wedding.

Their Story
Bride’s Comments: “It was a Rustic Chic, DIY themed wedding. Almost all the wedding details, from the color of the barn, to all the wood decor, and picking the bridal parties outfits, were all done by the groom and myself.”About This Wedding
How many guests were invited?
“We invited around 300 guests, but most of our family lives out of town, so our final head count came to 160.  Narrowing down the guest list was tough but the nice part about hosting the wedding at Zachary’s grandparents house was that we didn’t have any constraint on how many guest we could or couldn’t invite.”
Challenges you faced planning your wedding?
“The hardest part, as a bride-to-be planning a wedding, was making sure that all of my ideas and concepts in my head were being communicated correctly. There was a lot of family involved in all aspects of the planning and it was tough to remember to keep everyone in the loop.  For Zachary, he was not a fan of all the wood we had to stain. By the time the wedding was over he must have stained over 50 pieces of scrap wood and put in well over 50 hours.”
Any tips to share with brides planning their own wedding?
“If you are too scared or nervous to speak up for what you want then find someone who isn’t. You will only feel overwhelmed and disappointed in the end if you don’t speak up for what you truly envisioned  your wedding to be.”
What was the wedding budget?
“The budget was never really a set number. We approached my father in March with a rough estimate of $12000 and he was satisfied with that.  The grand total all in came to about $16000.”
What were the highlights from the ceremony and reception?
“Just getting married!!! I cried and he cried and it was exactly how I pictured it to be! Â Also having been a dancer for 20+ years, I choreographed a little “routine” for our first dance and that part was really exciting for me! Zach might have a different opinion.”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
