Their Story
Narrative written by Kamesha Richard, Ava Loren Design: “When developing the aesthetic for this editorial, the union of timeless elegance with a touch of relevant modernity was the foremost intention; the abiding appreciation for both Old World elegance and modern refinement. The setting of the Renaissance Court of The Norfolk Botanical Garden provided the epitome of the steadfast beauty synonymous with 16th Century Italian Renaissance gardens and quickly became an undeniable choice for the location. A blend of bespoke design and floral elements and the stately essence of this location combined for an idyllic backdrop to showcase the illuminating love of a real-life couple. Grand focal points were a must for the Ceremony and Reception Scenes to honor the stately presence of the Garden’s design and its fountains, statues and balustrades. To define the Ceremony setting, an elongated floral arch brimming with lush Foliage and Garden Roses was created in two stone urns to frame the couple and became an enchanting setting for their tender embraces and romantic radiance. The selection of acrylic Louis XIV chairs was a deliberate choice for the least visually unobtrusive seating to maintain the sightline of the scene while introducing a contemporary finish into the classic setting. Continuing the idea of defined focal points, the Reception setting was framed by Italian Cypress evergreens and limestone fountain statues. The dining table styling was a curation of contemporary and heirloom selections. Marble chargers, gold accented vintage china and two-toned sleek flatware displayed on layered pale blue and lavender hued linens alongside bountiful floral arrangements made for a sumptuous look with swells of visual interest. Anchored in layers and layers of shimmering oyster hued tulle, the Bride dazzled in a statement Justin Alexander gown featuring a jewel and pearl encrusted bodice; combining both an airy whimsy of subtle pattern and texture and elegant form-defining style. The Reception look was a chic, high fashion take on the traditional cathedral train with flows of billowy crepe on a sleek trumpet bodice and skirt. The Maggie Sottero gown featured delicate straps, embellished with lace appliqués and crystals, with elegant “off the shoulder” caps in tasteful grace. Each gown was perfectly complemented with a bountiful bouquet featuring fresh Garden roses and scented geranium and embellished footwear from Badgley Mischka. The groom’s black tailored tux, dapper bow tie and sleek footwear made for a refined, timeless look. In addition to his classic styling, his floral pocket square showcased a distinguished finishing touch to his ensemble. A timeless Renaissance-inspired garden setting and the intentional melding of timeless sophistication and modern style was the outcome of a selfless collaboration of talented professionals and defined the realization of this exquisite editorial.Gallery
