Flower Stand Engagement Shoot

We made it through Friday the 13th, the full moon, Father’s Day and the most popular wedding day of the year or so I have been informed.  According to the registry at David’s Bridal, 26,370 couples were expected to walk down the aisle this past Saturday June 14th.  I just love seeing eye-catching, unique decor details and props within weddings and engagement shoots.  Today’s photographer, Artful Adventures Photography, is all about styling a photo shoot. I flipped when I saw this super cute flower stand engagement shoot.

Photographer’s Comments: “From the moment I met Alexandra and Brandon, I knew how much fun working with this sweet couple would be. Alexandra was drawn to me by my creative love for vintage, rustic, and southern styled photography. As we sat discussing the wedding and engagement it was fun to watch the spirit between the two.

“I style almost all my engagement shoots. Styling is the fuel that ignites my passion for photography. In meeting each couple I like to collect bits and pieces of information that helps me create a theme that is meaningful to the couple.

“In our conversation I gathered Alexandra loved color and was not set on color palettes, but rather loved all colorful things. She explained she is not setting color limitations on her bridesmaids and would like to have a wedding full of an array of different hues.

“She mentioned how she and Brandon enjoyed riding bikes together. They enjoy vintage things, but expressed how she would love something a little different from the typical picnic theme. I came up with the idea of a flower stand. It’s colorful, and not something I have seen much of.”

“I found a cheap old bike and removed all of the cables and reflectors and painted it white using good old fashioned spray paint. My husband built a flower stand and plant stand for me out of rough cut wood. The baskets where purchased for about a dollar each at local thrift shops. The glass jars and vases were from my own collection, and some were purchased from local thrift shops. Other props such as pails, vintage mason jars, and crates where used from my own collection of items. I wanted the session to have a small town southern country feel. The property at the Ever After Barn was perfect. The location offered both wooded areas with beautiful flowing moss, and open field with tall grass and magnolia trees. I could not be more touched to see the surprise on Alexandra and Brandon’s face when they saw everything. That is what it is all about and makes every moment worth it!”
