Citrus Themed Wedding at Maravilla Gardens

Last Updated: March 18th, 2021/3 CommentsTopic: REAL WEDDINGSby Meredith

We love today’s citrus themed wedding, from the wedding poster to the centerpieces – wooden crates filled with fruit that guests got to take home in customized produce bags! We also love the idea of lining the ceremony aisle with photos of the bride and groom throughout the years, with row one being their baby photos and so on. So cute and fun for guests too!

From the bride, Gina: “From the beginning, I knew I wanted our wedding to have a vintage feel.  I’ve always loved that old farm look, but I did not want that to be confused with country (no checkered tablecloths, no cowboy boots, no roosters).  There’s something about vintage labeling (the colors, the fonts, the graphics, etc.) that I love.  Once we settled on a summer wedding in Southern California, I knew citrus fruit crate labels would be a perfect fit.  From there, all of the colors just fell into place.”

“I am still in love with our Save the Dates.  Since vintage fruit crate labels were my inspiration, I wanted them to be incorporated right away.  I went to work with my best friend and graphic designer, Steven Woo.  We researched famous fruit crate labels and came up with a design that really became the central look from which all other projects stemmed.  I was thrilled with the final product and we now have a large framed version of it to hang in our home.”

“I think I speak for all of our wedding guests when I say my favorite moment of the day is when my nephews (also known as the banner boys) got into a brotherly quarrel midway down the aisle while carrying the ‘Here Comes the Bride’ burlap banner.  Our photographer, Kimberlee, captured it perfectly and we also have a video of it taken by one of our guests.  We’ve since been asked several times if they are available for hire.”

“For our honey jar favors, my mom spent days jarring the orange blossom honey, cutting out muslin squares, tying the twine bows, and positioning the labels just right.  Steven designed the labels to match our invitations.”

“My advice for future brides is to be creative and have fun.  Pick a theme you like and can run with.  Also, get help from family and friends.  Luckily, I have a very crafty mom who has an excellent eye for detail.  I could not have done it without her help.”
