Southern Details for Wedding in Tennessee

Last Updated: March 16th, 2021/12 CommentsTopic: REAL WEDDINGSby Meredith

We are really excited to share this beautiful southern wedding today. Julie and TJ incorporated a lot of southern elements into their special day including the cotton in the bouquets and the food — fried chicken, squash casserole, and shrimp and grits!

Laura Leslie Photography did a fabulous job capturing all their special details.

Julie found her wedding dress through Brides Against Breast Cancer–an organization that helps grant wishes to people with breast cancer.

Their wedding cake is from Cecelia Villaveces Cakes in Athens. Julie’s grandmother would buy Julie’s birthday cakes from there when she was younger.

What Julie said about her wedding:

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
Can we have two?  We did a handfasting, and it was great to have the wedding party symbolically bind our hands with ribbon.  Also, I loved walking back down the aisle, beaming next to my new husband, while family and friends showered us with lavender!

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding?
We were on a budget, but that was a fun challenge because we ended up doing a lot of things ourselves and making the wedding more unique.  I would say that the most difficult part was planning a wedding from another state (I live in Tennessee), but my mother and aunt were both a huge help in the planning department.
