Kristin and Josh’s Wedding
Can you believe that today is the last day of August?! Summer has flown by for us and we are greatly anticipating the coming of fall and all the yummy goodness that it brings with it! But back to today and the beautiful wedding we are going to be sharing with you all! Kristin and Josh had an amazing DIY wedding—that is over flowing with details! This is how Kristin described her day: LOTS of help from my mom, friends and many Etsy vendors made our day unique. I had lyrics from our wedding song stitched into my Converses. My mom and I made weekends of ravaging flea markets for milk glass, mason jars, bottles, and handkerchiefs. We also wanted to make our day interactive so we created a DIY photo booth for guests to leave us some love! Guests also left us messages by signing a vinyl record of our wedding song. My grandmother had given me her wedding veil years ago and I re-purposed the pretty beading by wrapping it around my bouquet.
For our favors, I knew I wanted something useful. I found an Etsy vendor who was willing to create burlap sacks painted with a bird and our initials filled with birdseed. Our day was surrounded by animals so we wanted our favor to be something our guests could take home and share with the feathered friends.
Our favorite detail of all was the food! We LOVE breakfast food and when we decided upon a daytime wedding we just knew we had to incorporate our love of all things breakfast-y. Instead of your typical cocktail hour, we had a pancake hour complete with flavored syrups, fresh fruits, fresh baked breads, and homemade jams. Think ice-cream sundae bar, but only with pancakes! We knew we wanted to incorporate all of our favorite homemade meals and comfort foods. Everything had to feel like home to us and our guests. Home was in the food, “Home” was the name of our wedding song, home was in the details, and home was around us in our family and friends. Our day was a celebration of home!
