Budget Backyard Wedding in Texas
We know a lot of couples are planning weddings on tight budgets. Well, this budget backyard wedding post is for you! Lauren and Jackson pulled off a seriously gorgeous wedding on a small budget, with lots of handmade details and help from family and friends. Paige Newton did such a great job photographing their beautiful day!
These silk-screened handkerchiefs made lovely decor all strung up–and they were also favors for the guests!
Lauren’s inspiration for their wedding started with her engagement ring, which was her great-grandmother’s in the the 1920s–the flapper era. A flapper inspired wedding became feathers and birds which evolved into a vintage feathers and birds theme.
We love the laidback feel of this backyard reception! Tissue paper pompoms and globe lights strung across the yard set the mood perfectly.
The cake spread looks so cute–and yummy! To save money, Lauren bought plain cakes and had her bridesmaids decorate them.
We love this darling nest cake topper!
Budget advice from the bride: “My husband’s advice to other budget wedding planners is plan on spending the time instead of spending the money. We had friends and family help us with everything. My advice for keeping it to a budget is if you see something you want, be prepared to make it yourself and ask lots of people to help. If people offer to help, let them! Every little bit counts and it all adds up quickly, so I had to be really sure that I wanted some thing and make sure I knew how I was going to use it before purchasing.
“Be open minded to planning the details a little differently than imagined and being creative to save money. Just know – if you pick an unusual or expensive theme it will be harder to find budget items.
“Tell vendors that you are on a budget and most are willing to work with you. Most of all, have a good time no matter what little things happen, because when it comes down to it the days is about marrying the person you love.”
Such good advice! Thanks Lauren and Jackson, and congratulations!!
