Ceremony and Reception Theme
Bride’s Remarks: “We really tried to focus on experience as the main theme throughout our wedding to truly honor all of the beautiful people in our lives. Also, bringing our loved ones to the Seattle Art Museum meant so much to us as that is where we got engaged. We really wanted to continue creating really unique experiences while highlighting some of our favorite elements of the museum. It’s a place where memories are stored and preserved while being experienced by others, so we thought it would be amazing to continue that tradition through our wedding!”
Wedding Invitations
“Our brother-in-law René Neri and his partners at NXT Creates, a branding and design company in Seattle, designed our invites! He made a logo with our initials and sourced some pretty awesome paper and printing techniques! They were responsible for all of our printed material including a seating chart poster which mirrored our invites!”
Best Wedding Advice Received?
“Oh my gosh, we received so many great tips while planning our wedding. One I remember the most was being asked, ‘what part of the wedding is most important to you?’
“That question came at a point when I felt really overwhelmed with the planning process, but I felt like that allowed me to re-focus on what the wedding was truly about — marrying the person I so genuinely love and respect.
“So for me, the ceremony was an obvious choice! As long as I got to stand in front of so many loved ones and tell Quauhtli, in my own voice, why it mattered so much for me to spend the rest of my life with him, I was able to let a lot of the other stress go. So that is what I would personally pass on to others. Choose one aspect of the wedding that matters the most to you, and let that be yours to worry and stress over! That way it’s much easier to let others in to help you worry about the other stuff!”

“My mom bought my necklace for me from a flower shop, City Flowers Inc. Honestly, it was such a unique piece, totally perfect for an art museum wedding!”
Bridesmaids’ Attire
“The bridesmaids wore black floor length dresses from BHLDN, the Annabelle dress by Jenny Yoo. For their look, Megan and team did a beautiful job keeping with a simple but elegant theme. Again, neutral colors but paired with a soft pink lip. The hair styles carried from loose chiffon to tamed natural waves for the ladies with shorter hair! The shoes were black heels or flats with a pointed toe!”

Highlights from the Ceremony and Reception
“Oh wow… So many moments come to mind. From the ceremony, our good friend Jason was our officiant, and he brought so much laughter to the moment! His son Caden was our ring barer and Jason and when he got to the end of the isle, he bowed down to deliver the rings– he’s 5!
“The speech from my sister and Quauhtli’s dad were also so amazing!
“For the reception, me, Quauhtli and our parents performed a choreographed dance for our guests in place of the traditional father/daughter, mother/son dances. Quauhtli’s friend Jerome Aparis and his wife Leah choreographed the dance and spent several nights leading up to the wedding to teach us our fresh moves at their dance studio! We even ended it with a soul train!!
“Oh, and at some point during the reception, Quauhtli picked up his grandma and spun her around — a very sweet moment.”
Bridesmaids Gift
“I gave each bridesmaid an accessory to wear for the wedding. A couple got hair accessories and a couple of them earrings depending on which accessory they preferred! I wanted each girl to have something unique to wear! I got the gifts from Etsy and Nordstrom.”
Groom’s Attire
“Quauhtli’s suit was perfect! We actually had his suit made at Trillium Custom Tailor to capture the look we were going for. He wore an all ivory suit that matched closely with my dress. A black textured tie that gave the illusion of leather, and black shoes. His dress shirt was white with black buttons. The best part was his tie clip, which he spent months looking for! The clip was silver with eagle wings as the design (Quauhtli means Eagle in Nahuatl), and was a perfect subtle accent to his attire!”
Wedding Favors
“My mom made these cool black boxes and put a dark chocolate and champagne filled truffle inside and tied them off with a white bow! They added an elegant touch to our dinner tables as well!”
Wedding Flowers
“We had large white calla lilies with white orchids submerged in water for the center pieces, white rose petals that ran the tables and smaller white lilies for the bouquets. The flowers provided such a clean and elegant look, they complimented the museum so well!”
Meredith
