Unique Wedding Venue Ideas from Around the World

If typical wedding venues don’t get you giddy, we may just have an idea for you! We’ve gathered up some of our favorite wedding sites that are truly avant-garde. Channel your inner Dr. Seuss and the question is, would you, could you…

Under a Bridge? This Portland bridge makes for a stunning ceremony location. Love it!

In a Desert? Why not throw in some camels while you’re at it!

In a treehouse? This wedding venue (which is right by us in Issaquah, WA–woot woot!) is soo amazing.

In an igloo? If you don’t have any igloos handy (we don’t understand why you wouldn’t) the snow would work perfectly!

On a plane? This is not recommended if you get motion sick.

Underwater? Make sure to wear waterproof make up.

      Hi,

      Thanks so much

Hi Emily! Yes the plane wedding was legitimate. More on that one here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/gloucestershire/7542276.stm

As for the Portland bridge wedding, the photographer is Ben Blood. Here’s a link to his post on that wedding: blog.benblood.com/2010/10/11/andree-glen-wed/

He actually doesn’t watermark the images on his blog. The bridge, we believe, is called St. John’s bridge. Hope you have a fabulous time in Portland!

That is such a bummer the images aren’t watermarked. There’s no way to track the photographer’s down… That’s why I so dislike the blog trend of not allowing the photographer to mark their images… 🙁 Beyond not allowing them to protect their work, if the image gets copied somewhere and someone tries to track it down (say, me, like, right now) I have no way to other than random googling for weddings under bridges in Portland. That really sucks.

The first one is a knock out. I’m going to Portland in a couple weeks for Thanksgiving; I’ll have to see if I can track it down! That site is beautiful. It looks like a cathedral! Major kudos to the couple for the venue. I wonder if it was a creative idea on their part, a one time thing, or if the site has been used frequently in the past. Either way, it’s gorgeous. Fabulous post! At least, for the ones that didn’t make me bust up laughing for being totally ridiculous! Ya really just gotta wonder with some people. How are you focused on the love and bonding of a relationship if you’re standing on top of separate planes 60 feet away, and I assume, communicating by radio? I do believe that was a legitimate wedding, I had heard about it before. Am I right?

I would get married in the tree house for sure! It’s so fun and Disney-like! Brings out the kid in all of us I’m sure. How can you not be happy in a tree house?

I LOVE that green dress the “desert bride” is wearing. It looks so royal. And that bridge, totally stunning!
