Wedding Story & Gallery

Authored by Stacey Stewart: “This original, and gorgeous shoot came to fruition when I put out the call to some of Ottawa’s most talented wedding vendors.  I have wanted to do a Halloween styled wedding shoot for a couple of  years now and just hadn’t had time to plan it.  I knew if I was going to pull this off, I would need some help from some awesome industry professionals.  Some of these folks I had  worked with before and some were new to me.  Between all of our resources and connections pooled together, we brought  ‘I would die for you’ to life.

“Like any wedding you want to run smoothly and look gorgeous, you need to enlist the services of a wedding planner.   Michael (Donovan Dream Designs) and Alicia (self employed lady boss) were a perfect match.  They worked well with me and with one another, pulling all of my visions together with their creative flare.

“I also wanted to be sure that nothing was missed, so I enlisted a second photographer Sheen, who’s style I wanted to emulate for this dark shoot.  I normally shoot rather bright and colorful, but wanted to stretch my creativity and branch out to something different.”

Models

“Next we found two great models who needed to be perfect for this look, even though we planned to paint their faces completely.”

Makeup

“The  makeup. Yes, this was a no-brainer for me.  Pina Cava was one of the first makeup artists I had in mind before anything else.  Her theatrical make up and face painting skills are nothing short of amazing.

“The cake, hairstylist, the calligraphy for the mirror, the stationary and the florals were perfect.  These vendors practically read my mind and created exactly what I envisioned and more.

The Dress

“The toughest part was finding  the dress.  I originally wanted something black and lacy, but do you know how hard it is to find a black wedding dress?

“Harder than you think.

“Instead, we went with a beautiful wine colored evening gown provided by Zarucci. Ahem yeah, she dressed Sophie Grégoire Trudeau – the wife of Canadian Prime Minister.  After all, colored wedding dresses seem to be trending more and more as well as personalized styling or branding if you will , to make your wedding truly your own.”

The Venue

“Most importantly we needed to find a great venue.  The Herb garden, just outside of Ottawa is a rustic and charming spot, which provided a great combination of a dark forest area, along with plenty of greenery, fields and weathered wood around every corner.  Perfect for the vision.”

The Details

“All the little details like the dry ice in the glasses, the skull wedding bands, the creepy mirror, the candelabras, and brides head piece pulled this look together.  I hope other wedding couples looking for dark and romantic ideas for a Halloween or a more personalized wedding can draw some inspiration from these images.”
