Wedding Story & Gallery

Photographer’s Comments: Here’s three things I  loved about their wedding day:

1) The venue: First, any time I get to go to Europe is a win for me. Sylvia and Alex got married at this old chapel, full of exposed brick and high ceilings. It reminded me of everything I love about visiting Amsterdam and gave me all the giddy wedding feels. It was right in the middle of the city which gave us some amazing photo opps. A perfect venue for a wedding.

2) The couch: How cool is their ceremony space? Myrthe killed it with the styling! The different textures (hellloooo velvet couch), the string lights, the geometric chairs – I loved it all.

3) The band: It’s been a while since I attended a wedding with a live band, and I have to say, it was a nice addition to the reception! They immediately got the party started at the cocktail hour by serenading Sylvia and Alex (you know I love a good serenade) and continued to get the crowd excited till the very last song. What a party!

Bride’s Q & A:

1) How would you describe your wedding (vibe, colors, theme, whatever)?

We had a wonderful wedding in this lovely “hidden” chapel in the midst of the busy city center of Amsterdam. And that contrast between a traditional/classic and modern style could be seen in the theme of the wedding as well; the romantic draping, candles and flowers combined with the modern black chairs, simple stationery and black wedding cake. And we absolutely loved the result!

2) What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

If we do have to chose one part, it would be the ceremony. It was just amazing to see each other for the first time that day, to listen to the heartfelt speeches from our friends and to say “I do” – and all in the presence of the people we love. Of course we imagined that our wedding would be a wonderful day, but we both did not realize just exactly how special it is to have all (or at least most of) the people you love together in one place.

3) Advice for future brides?

Definitely plan some time together during your wedding day. While it is great to spend the day with all of your favorite people, it is also a lot of fun to enjoy the fact that you just got married together – even if it is just for five minutes after the ceremony!

4) What surprised you on your wedding day?

Many people ‘warned’ us that the wedding day would be over in a heartbeat, and then you think “okay, maybe, we’ll see”. But time did went by so incredibly fast! Time really does fly when you’re having that much fun.
