A lot of couples decide to live together before making the leap towards marriage. Some choose to move in after they get engaged, while others move in while still in the dating phase. When you decide to move in with your romantic partner, whether you were still living at home or you were living on your, it can be a big change for both of you.
In fact, a survey commissioned by an online art marketplace (UGallery) surveyed 1,000 women aged between 20-40 years old and found that “83% think moving in together with a romantic partner for the first time is a real challenge.”
The top five issues these same women said were potential move-in challenges are:
- Dividing chores (77% of respondents)
- Sharing expenses (76%)
- Sharing a bathroom (65%)
- Managing different home décor styles (59%)
- Splitting TV time (55%)
This survey tells me that you need to find a place with 2 bathrooms, 2 TVs, and cross your fingers that he can store his favorite freshman wall posters!
The lovely couple in today’s post were engaged the day they moved into their new house. I’ll let them tell you their story below. Captured by Hundreds of Moments LLC, this super cute biking and picnicking engagement session screams summery romantic fun.
Bride’s comments: “Drew proposed on December 13th, 2013. We had just closed on a new home together and this was the day that we moved in. After the movers left, and the house was filled floor to ceiling with boxes and furniture, Drew brought one of the boxes over to Andrea, he then proceeded to get down on one knee, and started going through the box, asking Andrea what could possibly be in there. At the bottom of a very large box filled with packing peanuts was a smaller box with the engagement ring.
“Andrea didn’t really catch on to what was going on, as she didn’t even notice he was on one knee and didn’t understand why he was making such a big deal about this one box, when they had so many more to unpack!
“Once Drew pulled out the smaller box, she finally realized what was happening, and Drew proposed. She of course said yes! They celebrated with champagne, calls to family and friends and some more unpacking in their new home and new life together!”
