Garden Circus Party at Boothbay Botanical Gardens

Boothbay, ME

Casual Whimsical

L&L Remarks

The bold colors in this circus inspired styled shoot at Boothbay Botanical Gardens really grabs my attention – especially the brilliant colored pumps! Throughout you can spot splashes of stripes, polka dots, floral patterns, wood grain, burlap, sheer, satin and different kinds of metals. All in all, this shoot really shows that you don’t have to be afraid to use color, texture, or patterns in your wedding day decor. When done correctly, you can achieve a great eclectic look and feel.

Wedding Story

Event Planner’s comments: “Our ‘Deco Botanical’ shoot grew out of our curiosity about the wildness of old world circuses. As Patricia Takacs (of Kivalo Photography) and I researched circuses of the early 20th century, we appreciated how the settings of these circuses contributed to the sense of exotic intrigue that pervaded them.”

“Our choice of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens was informed by the role botanicals played in these events—the carefully curated, stunning gardens gave the shoot a playfulness reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland. The subtle inclusion of animal wildlife imagery throughout the design as well as the occasional use of black as an accent color were nods to the boldness of the art deco old world while the botanicals and soft colors used throughout the design grounded the shoot firmly in the feminine.”

“Each vendor rendered their own work beautifully and were a joy to collaborate with! An event design full of juxtapositions between the curated and the wild resulted.”
