How did you and your spouse meet?
“Through mutual friends at a well known local hot spot called The Table in Sarasota. It was on a Sunday of all nights.”
What is your very advice to other brides?
“Hiring the best makeup artist and hairstylist is worth it for the bridal party and hire a well known photographer! The pictures of your family are forever!”
Describe your Bridal Attire
“I chose a Vera Wang fairytale dress for the ceremony. It was very classic and prince-like. I truly felt like a princess. I wore the Vera Wang dress accompanied by my mother’s favorite and classic pearl necklace, bracelet, and earrings (something borrowed of course). I chose Vera Wang shoes as well – appropriate for a storybook romantic wedding at La Caille. I opted for a 1920’s style hair style as the theme was Great Gatsby. I changed for the reception into a 1920’s style long beaded gown and wore 20’s style jewelry to complement the reception dress.”
Inspiration for your color palette and design?
“I have always loved the Great Gatsby book and have always been drawn to that time period. So, classic glamorous 1920’s was definitely the inspiration.”
Did you do a First Look before the ceremony?
“I was very happy after the wedding ceremony that we did do a first look. It took the jitters away and it was fun.”
Anything you wish you had known sooner rather than later?
“Wedding procedures! Having never been in a wedding (other than when I was a flower girl at the age of 5) and never been married before. I really did not know much about what is normally done.”
How did your engagement proposal happen?
“Ric proposed at The Table Creekside (their new location). The entire staff and chef were all in on the surprise. Ric ordered champagne and went to the rest room. He was gone for awhile and I thought, “what is going on?” He doesn’t ever drink champagne. I love champagne, but I drink it with my mom or my sister. I thought he planned a surprise birthday party and invited them for the champagne dessert part of the evening. I was so confused. It was so sweet and romantic. Of course I was shocked and surprised and it just felt so right. I was on top of the moon!”
Advice for Future Brides
“Take the time to plan more. It is the best time of your life. Make it special.” Invitations: Custom Gatsby style invitation found on Etsy
How was your wedding different than you imagined?
“My wedding day was even more special than I imagined. I thought it would be dramatic with the bridal party getting ready, and I just thought there might be a few things that might go wrong. It was the most perfect day ever. Everyone had love in their hearts and I cannot explain the wonderful feeling.”
Why did you pick that location for your ceremony?
“We have visited La Caille many times while in town visiting my sister in law and her family. We live near the beach in Florida and considered a beach wedding, but Ric said, ‘why should we do that when we can have the wedding at La Caille?’ It was the best decision we made. It was magical and felt like a fairytale wedding. My grandmother was able to come as she lives in Wyoming and it would be have been difficult for to make a long flight.”
Three decisions you’re glad you made
1. Hiring the best photographer! 2. Choosing La Caille for the ceremony and reception. It was worth having a destination wedding. 3. Choosing Eli as the DJ. The dance floor was packed the entire time.
If I knew then what I know now…
“I would not have waited so long to get married. It was so not worth the planning and stress.”
This is such a fun wedding! The headbands are so cute and very Gatsby
Gorgeous wedding dress! Love the wedding cake
What???? Beautiful post and pictures but the bit about the videographer and using a smart phone is load of crap!!!
Seriously? How can a blog that should have the rides best interests in mind serious recommend something like having someone use a camera phone to film the wedding? It doesn’t matter if it’s the most advanced cell phone on the planet! It will never be able to tell the story of the wedding in an amateurs hands.
Wow!! Huge regret!! Huge!!
Photography and videography should be the 2 of “must haves” in every wedding!! No exceptions.
They are the only things that last and actually matter.
Hi Kathy,
Thank you for the comment – you were not the only one to make that point 🙂 I totally understand your point of view and have updated that last paragraph. You have definitely given me a few ideas for future posts too.
Cheers,
