Wedding Story
Today’s story about how one couple met and fell in love comes from a beautiful part of the world that I hope to visit soon! I hope you enjoy reading about Julia and Christian’s story as much as I did. Plus, the lavender fields are simply STUNNING!
[pullquote align=”normal”]Our time in Provence was amazing – the special light in the fields, the humming of the bees, and the lavender scent made these photos very special. [/pullquote]
Remarks from the photographer, Melanie Meißner: “In 2013 I was fortunate to take a sweet couple’s after wedding photos with tons of ‘love and lavender’ in Provence, France. Julia and Christian had already been married for one year, but during their wedding day they decided to celebrate with friends and family instead of a lengthy bridal photo shoot.
“For their after wedding photo shoot Julia and Christian invited me to join them in Provence, and donned wedding gown, suit, plus a second vintage styled outfit for a more casual look.”
Remarks from the bride: “We have already known each other since childhood. Into adolescents, Christian had begun to be rather cheeky and quite the wild boy, whom I found rather annoying at times. But things changed when we met years later at a friend’s birthday party. We had not seen each other for quite a while and we slowly realized during our conversation that evening that we actually knew a lot about each other. We talked quite a lot that night at the party and I became more and more interested in Christian. He felt the same way, but somehow we both forgot to exchange our telephone numbers. By chance, we met again later and I made sure to get his number!”
“After getting re-acquainted with one another, I was was absolutely thrilled when Christian asked for my hand during a visit to a Christmas market. As Christian began his studies and I started an apprenticeship, we decided to live in a very tiny flat for financial reasons for several years. These years showed us that we basically just needed one another to be happy. It also taught us the necessity to respect and to take care of each other in order to make our relationship work.”
“We decided to travel to Denmark for our civil wedding because my family and I had spent a part of my childhood there. It proved to be a very emotional journey revisiting some of my treasured childhood memories. On our wedding day the sun was shining brightly and we were able to exchange our wedding vows at the beach in a very relaxed atmosphere. One week later we celebrated our wonderful church wedding back in Germany with all our friends and relatives. We decided it was more important to spend the whole day with our wedding guests, and hold off for wedding photos until after the wedding day. During our week in Provence (one year after our wedding), we both felt excited to slip back into our wedding outfits. Our time in Provence was amazing – the special light in the fields, the humming of the bees, and the lavender scent made these photos very special for us. We still love to revel in these memories.”
“Now, after almost 10 years of sharing our lives together, it is still important to us to remember the reasons why we love each other. We also take the time not to get dragged down by our everyday life. Before we go to sleep we read books to one another, we go for walks in the woods – during sunshine or rain – and travel to foreign places that we want to discover together.”
