Wedding Story
Photographer’s Comments: “When I first met with Britanni and Jared via Skype, I knew they were the perfect couple to add to my growing list of amazing couples for the 2018 wedding season! From their fun personalities to the apparent love they had for each other, they were the very definition of the love stories I so enjoy the chance to capture! They also have the cutest cats!”
“We decided to do a mini session the night before their wedding featuring those cats, as they were unable to be present for the actual wedding day. I love it when my couples think outside the box and personalize their wedding experience with things (and pets) that matter to them! This was the first time EVER that I’ve had the privilege to photograph a couple and their cats, and it was such a cool change and unique experience.”
“The Hilton Garden Inn at Pittsburgh/Southpointe truly is a unique place for a wedding. From the beautiful reception ballroom to the garden courtyard for the ceremony, it is picturesque and easy to photograph. I loved the color scheme that Britanni chose, as the various shades of purple flatter skin tones well.”
“One of my favorite unique touches was a special feature put on by their DJ called “Sparks Fly”. It really added that extra boost of something special to their grand entry into the reception as well as their first dance. Another special surprise was the best man dressing up as a unicorn while another groomsman wore a panda onesie as part of an inside joke between themselves and the bride.”
“Overall, this wedding embodied much of who Britanni and Jared are, both as a couple and as individuals. From start to finish you could feel their love, and it was impossible not to celebrate with them as the night went on! As far as wedding days go, this one was effortlessly magical!”
Bridal Q & A
Q1: Tell us about your wedding!
“We both grew up in the country. However, we wanted our wedding to look elegant. The theme of our wedding was rustic elegance. Our color scheme was pastels. We had five colors; the main two were lavender and gray but also included purple, mint, and white as accent colors. We wanted our wedding to reflect our personalities and our love for each other.”
Q2: Let’s talk wedding decor
“Our wedding coordinator at the Hilton Garden Inn- Pittsburgh/Southpointe Joanna and our Florist (Angel’s Floral and Gifts) decorated our reception hall and ceremony site to fit our theme. Our reception hall had purple uplighting provided by Powerbomb Productions; our centerpieces were baby’s breath in glass Eiffel towers or mason jars with burlap bows. We had white seat covers and table clothes with sand colored bows and table runners.
Q3: What were the florals like in your wedding?
“Angel’s Floral and Gifts made our wedding floral arrangements perfect. All the flowers at our wedding were real. We had large floral arrangements on the side of our ceremony site.
“All bridesmaids had bouquets that were smaller than mine, but all included, peonies, roses, carnations, and other types of flowers.
“The groom, groomsmen, fathers, mothers, and grandparents all had either boutineers or wrist/ ring corsages. The centerpieces were all babys breath which brought our theme to life. So rustic, so elegant.”
Q4: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)?
“We personalized our wedding a lot! Even though we couldn’t have our two furbaby ragdolls (Molly and Mocha) at our wedding, we had them on personalized napkins from Etsy and on our wedding guest book which was a cartoon of us with the cats below us in our wedding attire designed by Miss. Design Berry.
“The favorite part of our wedding was our Sparks Fly provided by Powerbomb Productions. As soon as we went into our reception hall when we were announced large sparklers went off and during our first dance at the end, they went off again, but this time there were four. We were love at first sight, so sparks did fly in our relationship.”
Q5: Let’s talk fashion
“My wedding dress was Ivory, designed by Essense of Austrailia, purchased at Bridal Beginning in Mt. Lebanon. The gown was a mermaid, sweetheart neckline. To spice it up, I added a gem/pearl belt. I had a white crystal headpiece along with Swarovski earrings given to me by my husband to wear for our wedding day.
“My hair was half up and half down, and I did wear a veil that matched my beautiful dress. I wore ivory heels during the ceremony but quickly took them off and wore sparkly white flip flops with a bow on them to keep comfy.”
Q6: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
“I’m a registered nurse, and my husband is a police officer. We met at the hospital I once worked at. I won’t go deep into detail, but it was love at first sight. We were both nervous to speak to each other at first.
“We didn’t start dating until five months after we first met because we were so smitten! When we first started talking it was one thing in common after another, it was a perfect match and love at first site.
“Jared proposed on 7-15-17 right in front of our new construction townhouse that was being built in Pittsburgh, PA. It was just us two right in front of our new home where we would start our new life together.”
Q7: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
“CAKE! Honestly, just finally becoming husband and wife and seeing how our special day turned out. It was so perfect. Sparks fly entrance and our first dance was something we were so excited about and it worked out perfectly!”
Q8: Do you have any advice to share with other couples planning their day?
“You only get married once. Make this day special. Get the vendors you want, who you can depend on to make sure your wedding day is everything you have ever wanted. You really get what you pay for. Remember that when you book your vendors. Research them, speak with them, and be confident that they will be there for you through this exciting process. If you do that, your wedding will be perfect. Just like ours was.”
