Nautical Nuptials at Davis Islands Garden Club

Tampa, FL

Nautical Themed Whimsical

L&L Remarks

Today’s wedding at Davis Islands Garden Club includes a coral, navy, and gold color scheme one would expect from a nautical nuptial affair. Inspired maritime details such as gold lanterns for décor, rope wrapped cans and jars, painted bottles, anchor stir sticks, and rope knot table numbers. Most of the decorations were DIY projects including the flag ribbon boutonnieres, chevron table runners, and the ribbon curtain backdrop for the gazebo.

Wedding Story

Overall theme for the Ceremony and Reception

“Our wedding theme was nautical and we incorporated navy, white, coral, and gold color theme.”

Bridesmaids Gifts

“I bought all of my bridesmaids robes, monogrammed champagne flutes from Etsy, monogrammed tervis cups with straws, note pads, and nautical bags.”

Check out more robe ideas in this roundup post we did.

Wedding Flowers

“The types of flowers we used though out the wedding were; hydrangeas, coral roses, hypercium berries, carnations, baby’s breath, snapdragons, coral pin cushion flowers and then used a nautical navy and white striped ribbon to wrap the stems of the bouquets together.”

Bridesmaids’ Attire

“Bridesmaids all wore navy chiffon knee length dresses from Alfred Angelo in Tampa.  I let them choose their own heels but they had to be a nude color.”

Bride’s Attire

“The dress was a Casablanca dress from Olga’s Bridal Boutique in Tampa.  I also wore Nina Wedges that had rhinestones by the toe.”

Groomsmen Gifts

“The groom gave his groomsmen a bottle of their favorite liquor.”

Wedding Favors

“Our wedding favors were mason jars with navy coozie with gold writing.  Our mason jars has navy chevron straws in them with table numbers for our escort cards.  Our coozies were from Totally Wedding Koozies.”

Music for the Ceremony

“The music for the processional was A Thousand Years (Christina Perri); Make You Feel My Love (Adele); Marry Me (Train).  I used the bridal chorus for the bride’s entrance.  And we used “How Sweet it is to be Loved by you” by Mavin Gaye for the recessional.”

Wedding Invitations

“We purchased them from a local company in Tampa called Mates & Co.  Meg Skelly was the designer.”

What were the highlights from the ceremony and reception?

“We enjoyed everything about our wedding.  We enjoyed our cocktail hour with corn hole and great music and drinks.  The reception was amazing.  We ate dinner inside and then went outside for a night of fun dancing and drinking.  We loved the laid back enjoyable atmosphere that was created. Our DJ from Big Beats Entertainment made everything event more fun.  We also had a photobooth from Fotobox Tampa.  All of our guests had a great time in the photobooth.  We also had amazing cupcakes from Sugardarling cupcakes that were enjoyed by everyone.  We had 8 different flavors to enjoy.”

Best advice you received while planning your wedding

“To hire a wedding coordinator, she had so many amazing ideas and thoughts that I never would have though of.  She helped me with everything, when I had a question, she was always there with a different answers and plans.”

Where did you go on your Honeymoon?

“We went on a Royal Caribbean 7 night cruise to Bahamas, St Thomas, and St Maarten.”

This is such a gorgeous southern wedding! The theme and the color scheme are fantastic. Not to mention, the way his cuffs say “I do” and the date are simply amazing. Fabulous post!
