Wedding Story
Overall Design
A dark and moody look incorporating dark jewel tones with ivory and black. Lush, dripping florals mixing fresh flowers with dried material and bare branches celebrate the coming winter and symbolize the faint glow of life contained within hibernating winter life forms. Our bride is alone, perhaps jilted at the alter or having lost her lover to death.
She suffers in the fog and darkness but is resilient and glows with a deep strength. After a period of hibernation and rest she will emerge from her fallow state to shine once more, even stronger.
We used several elements as you’ll see; first our bride is having a solitary tea party as she preps and mediates on her upcoming nuptials. Next she visits the alter and waits. As she looks for her lover she wanders into the woodlands where she grows tearful. She experiences a range of emotion and expresses the loss and courage in these images as she comes through the fog and into the light.
Flowers
We used florals in our tea party, wedding alter set up and in our unique custom made bridal headpiece. The florist selected dark orange orchids, dark red roses, mustard roses, plum ranunculus, eggplant calla lilies, burgundy scabiosa and/or chocolate cosmos, dark red hanging amarathus.
Foliage
English ivy, magnolia, dried grasses, other foraged greenery and dried material.
Cake
Our cake started out as a charming blue and didn’t quite fit our style when we put everything together. Our resourceful florist brought the bling and spray painted our cake a shimmery silver and laced it with an abundant of floral design. It was single-layer round, that accompanied our tea party set up.
Gown
Our bride model wore her own gown from her wedding day. It was designed by Oleg Cassini and purchased at David’s Bridal. Other article of clothing was incorporated from pieces we took from our own closets and re-purposed for this styled shoot.
Our bride model, recently shaved her head down to a buzz cut. Our florist designed a custom floral enhanced headpiece to accentuate the shape of her face and bring out the hue in her eyes. Our bride was feeling a little less than beautiful with her new haircut, but I believe it added to the theme of being non-traditional.
Tablescape
Our tablescape, was set up for a tea party, and you’ll see our traditional vintage tea set and a selection of jarred tea leaves. We relied on the seasonal and unique wintery fruits to add a pop of color and set the tone for the detailed ring shots and to bring a moody vibrance to our theme.
