Wedding Story
Photographer’s Comments: “Rolling green fields, misty clouds and stunning views of the Pacific encompass the beauty of Maui’s upcountry. Teaming up with Maui’s talented vendors, we chose a new private wedding venue in Keokea. Above Wailea, it is the ultimate setting for a next level private escape on Maui.
“The inspiration came from the natural landscape and culture on Maui. Jacaranda trees in bloom and Maui’s bohemian vibe helped us choose the style and look to celebrate this beautiful place. Showcasing an alternative to palm trees and gorgeous beaches, we were inspired by the slow lifestyle and country chic that embodies upcountry Maui. With a view over Wailea and with neighbors like Oprah, this location has it all.
“Hailey and Sam, our cute couple for the shoot, actually had never met before, even though Maui is a small town kind of place. Hailey greeted Sam, with “Hello Husband!”, and Sam of course replied with “Hello Wife!” They instantly warmed to each other as we began shooting and continued to chat. Lots of giggles ensued, and our team was full of smiles at the thought of being unintentional match makers.
“Dusty purple hues and light cream blushes enhanced the setting at Keokea Ranch Estate. Bella Bloom created the amazing florals for our sweet couple and took inspiration from a wild flower perspective. A hexagon vintage cake table and a trunk from the 1940’s decorated our lounge area.
“Crystals and stones were another influence as amethyst and citrine embody calm and relaxation as does the upcountry landscape. Taurus Moon by Nicole Martyn was our local Maui jewelry designer who adorned our lovely bride with gold and crystals as well. I was thrilled to be able to hand pick the dresses in CA while visiting friends.
“I got to play bride and relive the experience. My advice to brides is to try on at least a few choice gowns, not just the first one you fall in love with. This is a once in a lifetime experience so have fun with it!
“The breezy afternoon brought some light mist giving the end of our shoot a magical glow. Our couple left the shoot and let everyone know they were off to a mutual friend’s cocktail party together. Maybe one day with luck, they will come full circle, fall in love and get married…. again.”
