Wedding Story
From the Photographers:
“The North Shore of Massachusetts is one of our favorite coastal locations for weddings. In addition to the epic scenery and natural beauty, there is something about these towns that feels so cozy.
“Josh grew up in Manchester by the Sea, so this place has lots of sentimental value. He and Emily were so lucky that Josh’s boss offered his backyard as a location for the wedding. With rustic chalkboard signs around the backyard and a sailcloth tent for the reception, these two turned this spot into something magical. We loved the theme of watercolors that really tied the day together.
“After a first look near the Singing Beach, the wedding party was happy to hang out next to the pier for more pictures. We loved the bridesmaids outfits of beige BHLDN Lydia lace skirts paired with simple white camisoles. This entire wedding seemed to be surrounded by a soft, ethereal light that we couldn’t get enough of!”
From the bride & groom
“Josh and I met at UMass Amherst and started dating our senior year. Just about seven years later on the morning we bought our first house, he proposed in the driveway before we went inside for the first time. We spent that day doing yard work and then went out for dinner, he had made surprise reservations at our favorite restaurant. It was just what I’d wanted, a day just the two of us spending time together.
Why you decided to get married on the north shore of MA?
“Josh grew up in Manchester by the Sea and his boss generously allowed us to get married on his beautiful property. We had housesat there in the past and always commented on how amazing the space would be for a wedding, me sometimes in a not so subtle fashion, and when the time came to pick a place, we knew we wanted it to be there.”
Advice to future couples planning a backyard wedding?
“Go for it! Hire an amazing coordinator that you trust to bring all the necessary vendors (which there are quite a few!) together so you can truly relax and enjoy your day. Try not to worry too much about the weather – it’s out of your hands!”
Favorite thing about your wedding day:
“Every. Single. Thing. Having such a wonderful group of our family and friends together in one place to celebrate was a once in a lifetime experience we were so blessed to have.
“We could feel the love and support that surrounded us and we were able to really slow down and embrace (nearly) everything about the day. The food was amazing, the dance floor was packed from the moment the band started playing until the end of the last song, and we had a perfect ten weather day.”
