Wedding Story
One of my best girl friends married a huge sports fan – football, baseball, professional/college – you name it, he will watches it. He is such a big fan that his engagement proposal was during half time of the super bowl (in front of the TV). Not my idea of romance, but I will give him credit for the scrapbook he created of their relationship, which he used as a prop to propose. Very sweet and romantic. She is now an avid sports fan too.
When I saw this engagement photo shoot it totally reminded me of the story above. What a cute idea for any couple who share a similar love of sports.
Bride-to-be’s comments: “Nick and I are avid Carolina Panther fans, which helped inspire us for part of our engagement session. After graduating from college, Charlotte became a permanent place to call home and that is why it was so important to capture it in our photos. Our shoot began in our neighborhood at Midtown Park, then later wrapped up with a little fun outside the Panther Stadium. The pictures turned out amazing and the session ended up being more enjoyable than we could have imagined. It’s truly amazing how Anchor & Veil Photography can capture a couple’s personality and love for each other in a single frame.”
How they Met – Nick & April’s Story
Nick and April met at a mutual friend’s camp out towards the end of the school year in the month of April, 2005. It was toward the end of her freshmen year and Nick’s sophomore year of high school. Throughout the afternoon, they kept catching each other stealing glances. Nick admitted later on that the first thing he noticed were her blue eyes. April will jokingly admit the first thing she noticed was that Nick was older and he could drive. That evening, when everyone was hanging around the camp fire, Nick finally gained the courage to talk to her. And that’s where their story began. The next week they started dating and have been together ever since. They will celebrate their 10 year anniversary before they are even married. And the friend who hosted the camp out – she’s April’s Maid of Honor.
Engagement Story
After living in their new neighborhood for a few months, April and Nick had been meaning to explore the surrounding area. Nick had been wanting to ask the big question for some time. However, with the new move and April’s job, they had been very busy. On Thursday, October 10th, 2013, Nick could not wait any longer. April had just gotten home from a very long day and was absolutely starving. Nick suggested that they take a walk to a nearby park and grab a bite to eat. April could tell Nick was acting strange on the way to the park, but was easily distracted by all of the delicious food options they had passed. Little did she know this would be the last thing on her mind on the way back. After strolling around the entire park, they ended up at an area with a beautiful waterfall. April was leaning in to read a plaque and when she turned around Nick was down on one knee. Nick popped the big question, opened the little black box and all April could do was stare. She was in complete shock! After a few seconds (which felt like an eternity for Nick) April gave him a huge hug and said “yes!”
We love the idea of wearing sports jerseys of your favorite team. Another idea is to add the wedding date on the back of the Jersey and use those photos for your save-the-dates.
Congrats to April and Nick who will be getting married a month from today in their hometown in Greensboro, NC.
We can’t wait to see pictures!
Great images! Love the boots and their couple football shirts!
