Wedding Story
Photographer’s Comments: “This wedding was very near and dear to my heart because the bride, Jennifer, was the fourth Morsberger sister to be married and the third sister whose wedding I photographed.
“I am so in love with this family. I knew Jennifer’s groom, Andrew, had to be just as funny and laidback. When I met Jennifer and Andrew for their engagement session, they suggested we walk around the Atlanta Beltline and Cabbagetown to check out all the cool graffiti. They are the quintessential hip couple and their wedding reflected just that!
“Their venue was located at the King Plow Arts Center in the heart of Atlanta. The moody greenery and floral decor chosen contrasted perfectly with the urban industrial vibe of the ceremony space. It felt almost as though a secret garden was growing inside the warehouse.
“Jennifer was accompanied during the day by her six sisters who were all bridesmaids. Her maids wore a beautiful cabernet color in all different styles to suit each individual sister’s personality.
“During the ceremony, Jennifer and Andrew’s son, James, made a sweet guest appearance. His face lit up at seeing his parents at the alter.
“Soon after the ceremony ended, guests began dancing. Even before dinner was served! This really set the tone for the rest of the evening and the Shimmer Band kept the energy going all night!
“Jennifer and Andrew ended the night with a sparkler send-off.”
Bridal Q & A
Q: Tell us about your wedding!
“Oh wow! We got engaged in late December and my mother and I looked at venues in mid-January, when we went to King Plow I knew this would be a great venue to have the wedding and reception.
“It was a lot to do in a short amount of time as we picked the end of May to have the event! My mother contacted Leslie West ASAP to see if she would be available for my wedding, and fortunately she was able to be there.
“Leslie has been the photographer at two of my sisters’ weddings and we knew we would not have to worry about the pictures. My biggest goal for the wedding was that everyone had a memorable, and incredible time!”
Q: Let’s talk wedding decor
“Bold Events was wonderful to work with, Jess reviewed my pinterest board and brought it to life. I knew I wanted some softness to even out the beauty of the brick walls and the industrial feel of the space.
“I loved the candles and flower arrangements, as well as the inclusion of succulents, one of my favorite plants. There was a beautiful hanging arrangement at the alter that was also used to hang above the cake. The space felt inviting to everyone!”
Q: What were the florals like in your wedding
“Yes! I loved my flowers with colors of burgundy, rose pink, and lots of greenery. Each of the bridesmaids had a beautiful bouquet, and the mothers of the bride and groom had a gorgeous corsage. The men in the bridal party had boutineers that matched the bridal party flowers. The head table had flowers and greenery down the middle, and each banquet table had an arrangement of flowers.”
Q: Did you personalize the day in any way?
“We had mini crabcakes as an appetizer during cocktail hour in honor of my father’s Maryland heritage (they were so great!). At the end of the evening we had a station called the donut went down to Georgia — it was definitively a crowd pleaser and quite the show!
“Krispy Kreme doughnuts were flambeed with Makers Mark and topped with a house-made Coca-Cola syrup and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They were fun to watch being made and delicious to eat. Our band was so wonderful, at one point all the bridesmaids and I were dancing on the stage to the song rolling on the real road.”
Q: Let’s talk fashion
“As soon as the venue was chosen, my mother, Janet called Formally Yours of Lilburn for an appointment. I had decided on a soft romantic dress, A-line. At Formally Yours they pulled many choices but the dress I tried on first was my favorite and was the one chosen. It was so romantic and a perfect fit.
“Andrew was excited to go to Sid Mashburn for a handsome suit, the tie and shirt. His shoes were purchased from Cobbler Union at Ponce City Market.”
Q: How did you meet?
“I met Andrew in 2005 through a friend from college that was good friends with Andrew’s best friend. Andrew and I met at a party and hit it off. We went on a few dates and have been together since. Andrew proposed just before Christmas, 2017. He was very romantic with his proposal. He also included me in designing my engagement ring which included heirloom diamonds from his great grandmother, and his mother.”
Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
“The first look, Leslie, our photographer found some great spots in the shade that I had not seen in other people’s wedding photos from that venue. It was nice to see Andrew all dressed up and he loved my dress! It was also nice that our officiant included our nine month old son, James in the ceremony by blessing him.”
Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
“Enjoy every minute! Do not stress out over every detail, not everything is going to be perfect. I definitely did not worry about things the day of and I think people were impressed about how calm I was that day.”
