Wedding Story
Where did you get the inspiration for your color palette and design?
“My wedding inspiration came from my love of neutral colors and blush pink. I wanted a feeling of soft and calm, yet classy. I consulted with Artisan Bloom for their advice. A wrapped aspen wood flower arrangements with different heights of aspen wood trunks accented with pillar candles, succulents and votive candles, certainly gave the snow park lodge a very stylish rustic chic theme.”
Who Designed your Wedding Programs?
“I designed them myself using Microsoft publisher and then bought a high quality paper from wedding paper divas and put it all together. I embellished the wedding program with a light brown sheer ribbon from Michael’s arts & craft store. The hours designing, printing and embellishing was definitely fun and worth it.”
Describe your Bridal Attire and Bridal Shoes
“I wore a champagne colored trumpet gown that had beaded lace all over. I bought my gown from David’s Bridal. I wore plain ivory open toed flat shoes by Nine West – but I added beading detailing.”
How did you choose your vendors?
“Word of mouth and researching online.”
Wedding Planing advice you wish you followed?
“Hiring an event coordinator and event designer.”
What is your best advice to other Brides?
“Enjoy the wedding planning and don’t let anyone get to you. Don’t forget the number one reason why you are having a wedding in the fist place.”
Did you do a First Look before the Ceremony?
“Yes, we did the first look because it was highly recommended by many professional photographers. What influenced our decision to do the first look was so that we could take more pictures together and spend quality time with our family and friends after the ceremony as newlyweds. It was a great idea and let us capture the pictures we wanted without feeling too rushed.”
Was there a Decor Theme for the Ceremony?
“With the natural beauty and stunning mountainous backdrop, I did not have to add a lot of decor to our wedding ceremony. My florist, Artisan Bloom, proposed light floral arrangements for the deck and aisle which were floral arrangement wrapped in aspen bark and suspended from the aisle chairs. They were very simple but rustic.”
Why did you pick your ceremony location?
“The Snow Park Lodge is very significant for Jhayson and I because this is the first mountain we skied at and and fell in love each other.”
What family, cultural, ethnic, or other traditions did you follow?
“When my dad gave my hand to Jhayson, Jhayson blessed my parent’s hands; by taking their hands and placing it on his forehead briefly. This is a way to show respect to elderly.”
What brand new elements did you bring to the day?
“That element would be the concept of aequanimitas. This concept is touted by Dr. Osler, which means a true grace under pressure. In short, calmness, patience and good will.”
Advice for Future Brides?
“Firstly, plan your wedding with the attitude that everything will turn out fine, so just let it go. Sometimes, especially brides, want to control everything! We want it to be perfect, run smoothly and turn out just the way we envisioned it. The truth is we can’t control everything. So just let it go! I did this to Jhayson. I wanted to control the music lineup and reception planning, but he said he will do it, so I gave him the honor to create a fun wedding reception and it worked. “Second, try not to be cheap with the photography and videographer – they are well worth it in the end – Trust me! “Third, get at least 3 bids from top floral designers in your area and pick the best of the best. Again, unless you are on a budget do not go cheap on the flowers because it will make a difference. “Fourth, if there is a room in the budget, hire a band that will play live music. It really does set the tone and atmosphere of the reception.”
Any DIY Projects?
“Yes, I made all the escort cards, and ceremony program myself.”
Where did you find your inspiration?
“All my inspiration came from Pinterest and Instagram and some from previous weddings that I had attended.” “Hiring a great photographer who will take the best of the best shots. Do not go cheap on photographers because these are memories to cherish for many many years to come. Hiring a live musician for the ceremony. Originally I was planning on having our DJ play a music, but I thought having a string quartet would be something different for our guests.”
Describe your Wedding Cake
“Our wedding cake was a 4 level traditionally stacked rounds cake with dark petal buttercream frosting. Each tier of the cake was covered with ivory piped frosting with dots and lacey scrollwork; a very subtle design as to not overwhelm the cake. The cake was dressed with succulents, blush tea roses and some votive candles around it.”
Favorite Wedding Reception Memory
“The entire wedding entourage performed a surprise grand entrance dance to the music Gentlemen by Psy. Our entire guests were blown away of the unexpected twist.”
