Kathryn & Taylor

Vintage Wedding at The Union on Eighth

Georgetown, TX

DIY Modern Vintage Whimsical

L&L Remarks

The Union on Eighth wedding venue really caught my eye when I first saw this submission – a modern setting with rustic flair.

Over the past 85 years this industrial building has been a blacksmith shop, a transmission shop, and even an Oldsmobile dealership. From the solid, hand-hewn beams and metal exterior, to the hanging Edison light bulbs throughout, this warehouse style wedding venue has rugged and romantic written all over it.

Wedding Story

Remarks from the bride: “Before the wedding, everyone told me to soak up the day and enjoy every moment because it would fly by. Wow, that was so true. There are several moments that will always run as highlights in my mind when I think about my wedding day.”

“The first one was our first look. I am SO glad Taylor and I decided to do a first look.  I was the biggest mixture of excitement/angst and having that time with Taylor was exactly what I needed. Just that quick moment of taking it all in together was the best.”

“The next memorable moment was our ceremony. Our ceremony was everything I could have imagined and more. It’s even sweeter looking back and remembering the message spoken by Jesse and our vows to each other.”

“Another moment was our reception that seemed to fly by. It was during our reception that I looked over from talking to family and friends and saw a human train making it’s way across the dance floor. It was in that moment that I thought, ‘What did I even stress for?’

As a wedding guest I always remember that I had fun. As a bride, I saw my guests having fun. Most importantly, I saw and felt how loved Taylor and I are, and (for a lack of a better word) it was awesome to be surrounded by our favorite people on my favorite day.”

“My one piece of advice to brides is to not stress over the overwhelming guest list and don’t spend hours on your table seating. Invite the people you’re not sure you have room for, because being surrounded by the people that you love and who love you on the most important day of your life is priceless and the least of things to stress about.”
