Bridal Q & A
Q: Tell us about your wedding!
“Laura has always loved the aesthetics of pale bridesmaid dresses. Once Laura found her blush dress, that became the main color for the wedding. Neither of our families have strong religious our cultural ties, so we felt free to create a celebration that was truly reflective of us. Our relationship started in Maine, and we consider it a second home. It is beautiful, and it felt right to have the wedding there.”
Q: Let’s talk wedding decor
“The one thing Laura really wanted in the reception space was strung lights. We looked for a decor vendor who could affordably make this a reality.Laura’s mom designed, purchased, and assembled the beautiful center pieces with help from the florist!
Q: What were the florals like in your wedding?
“In addition to having florals in the bouquets and boutonnieres, we incorporated them into the reception backdrop and center pieces. We kept the arrangements simple. The color of the roses was the most important component.
Q: Did you personalize the day in any way?
“The ceremony and the dancing! We researched, compiled, and wrote our own ceremony and vows. It took a while, but we were thrilled with the result. Our guests seemed to love it too!We spent a long time (probably too much time) creating a playlist of our favorite dance songs that the DJ used as a launching point. It was perfect. We had so much fun with our guests.”
Q: Let’s talk fashion
“Ethan’s one request was to wear a blue suit, so we found one that fit well!Laura is petite, so the main goal was to find a dress that didn’t completely swallow her. The non-traditional color was not part of the original plan, but it ended up being something that we loved!”
Q: How did you meet?
“We met on Colby’s Outdoor Orientation Trip as freshmen in college. We got to know each other better through sitting next to each other in our Introduction to Psychology seminar.Per Laura’s request, Ethan kept the proposal very simple. After we bought a vacuum cleaner and picked up pizza for dinner, Ethan tricked Laura into re-watching the episode of the Office that we had viewed together on our first date. Then he popped the question!”
Q: Do you have any advice to share with other couples planning their day?
“We were the first in both of our immediate families to get married. There was a lot of expectation and input from all parties. Early on, we made decisions about what components were important to us and made sure that they were included in our wedding. Then, we let everything else go!”
