Wedding Story
Photographer’s Remarks: “Leia and jeremy wanted to do something out of the box, extraordinary, and incredibly intimate. With many vacations to the beach, they decided to head to their favorite spot located in Carolina Beach. They beat all of the tourists and on-lookers by arriving when the sun popped up, and completely fell in love all over again as they said their vows. It was sweet and adventurous.
“They spent time on the details that mattered most, like the bee theme — Jeremy proposed to Leia while they were farming bees. The lavender was the sweetest touch, and added just the right amount of home as Leia made her bouquet the day before she left to say I do.”
Bridal Q & A
Bride Q&A
Q: Tell us about your wedding, what was the inspiration behind your day?
A: “Jeremy and I decided on a sunrise elopement because we wanted to strip down the wedding to the essentials and focus on each other, our core group of people and no stress. The sunrise represents starting a new day together, not to mention it is gorgeous. I kept with the soft color palette to fit the romantic, rustic beach vibe. I incorporated a European tradition by wearing a six pence (my aunt sent to me from England).”
Q: What were the florals like in your wedding?
A: “My husband I are beekeepers and always want to encourage bee friendly practices. To make a statement, I chose lavender (a bee friendly flower) as my one flower in my bridal bouquet. Because of the month, I was not able to get fresh lavender so chose preserved lavender instead.
“The lavender added to the rustic soft palette and as my something borrowed, my step-dad lent me a William Page Fiddle Back Condiment Spoon from the late 1800’s that was his grandmas.
Q: Did you personalize the day in any way?
A: “Our Ceremony was short and I got ready at 4:30 a.m in the morning in Nikki’s room. One of my favorite parts was walking up to the beach alone excited and nervous to see Jeremy.
“Our minister is very nontraditional (full time local beach musician friend) and made us laugh throughout the vows; he kept it short and sweet. Brunch is my favorite meal/food in the whole world and once pictures were done that’s what we got!! The best part, was we got to enjoy the whole day afterwards.”
Q: Let’s talk fashion – How did you choose your wedding day look?
A: “When I was deciding on a dress, I wanted a vintage, beachy, minimalistic look. Was not certain about cut, fit etc. I happened upon Camilles of Wilmington, on my mother’s whim and connected with the sales rep (she had chickens and wasn’t pushy) and found the dress and veil that was my size and could not stop trying it on.
“Jeremy and I went to Tichnors, and I told the sales rep that we wanted him to be comfortable but beachy for an event. The linen shirt was perfect and the pants were relaxed but still presentable. As far as accessories, I got Jeremy a honeybee lapel pin and I had everything bee related.
“My friend had sent me a honeycomb bracelet and I wore honeycomb shaped earrings and honeybee hair pin. I love accessorizing and considering how he proposed to me and our love/concern for honeybees I wanted to show that off. We accessorized with intention.”
Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A: “Both Jeremy and I’s favorite part was brunch. The place wasn’t fancy but it fit the style and It was the perfect end to our random but happy misfit group time together. We ate drank and were merry!”
Q: Do you have any advice to share with other couples planning their day?
A: “DO EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT TO DO! It is YOUR day, start your own traditions.”
