What were some personal details you incorporated?
“We worked very closely with our friend and officiant to create personalized vows. Our ceremony music was provided by my childhood music teacher and our flowers were provided by the florist for whom I worked in High School. As such, I worked closely with both parties to ensure everything was done to my and my husband’s personal tastes.”
Where did you get the inspiration for your color palette and design?
“The color palette essentially fell into our lap! We had chosen bridesmaid dresses and settled on a blush color because I thought it looked good on all the girls. I met with my florist the following day, gave her pictures of my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses, gave a brief description of my image and my AMAZING florist developed the perfect palette!”
Who proposed marriage and how did the proposal happen?
“Christian proposed at the top of Mill B trail at Lake Blanche in Big Cottonwood Canyon.”
Describe your wedding flowers
“A of palette of champagne, ivory and soft peach set the tone for a romantic autumn wedding. Focal elements included hanging amaranthus, dahlias, LA hybrid lilies, Queen Anne’s lace, garden roses, hybrid tea and spray roses. They were complemented by such selections as seeded eucalyptus, silver brunia and other seasonal grasses and foliages as required to complete designs.”
My Inspiration … “Came largely from Pinterest, and my ‘dream wedding‘ day-dreaming for the last 23 years!”
What was the decor theme for the ceremony?
“Rustic Elegance with birch accents and lots of flowers.”
Talk about who escorted you down the aisle
“My little brother escorted me down the aisle. I wanted him to have an important part in the ceremony and it was an easy solution to the step father/biological father dilemma.”
Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue – Did you follow that Tradition?
“Yes. Old was my husband’s grandmothers ring, which was also my engagement ring and happened to have blue sapphires! Borrowed was my paternal grandmother’s handkerchief, which has been worn by all the Etheridge women on their wedding days. Blue was my ring and also panties!”
How was your wedding different than you imagined?
“My wedding fulfilled my wildest dreams and imagination. My vendors and family were tremendously helpful in executing all the details according to my image.”
Three things you’re glad you did:
- Made a loose schedule for the day
- Waited for my groom to see me until I walked down the aisleTook pictures afte
- r the ceremony rather than before
Talk to me about the decor!
“We wanted the decor to be somewhat understated given that the location and time of year provided ample rustic decor and beautiful foliage and color. I worked with my florist to come up with flowers that would enhance the natural beauty and lend to a rustic elegant ambiance. She suggested we incorporate birch wood and copper accents into the flower design to complement the aspen trees and foliage. Our reception area was relatively simple: ivory and blush linens. Flowers arrangements in mason jars and tea lights covered the tables. Our florist re-purposed the ceremony flowers for the reception to flank the sweetheart table and dance floor.”
Anything you need not have worried about?
“The weather. I worried so much and shed so many tears over the prospect of rain, and all for nothing!”
Any Do it Yourself (DIY) projects you made?
“My mother, aunts, and I made wedding favors. They filled mini mason jars with a variety of candies and tied the jars with jute ribbon and mason jar shaped tags that said Lexie + Christian, signed with a heart.”
Looking back, I would have … “I would have had a videographer to capture the entire evening.”
