One of my favorite musicals is The Phantom of the Opera. When I opened an email with this Phantom of the Opera themed engagement shoot, it brought me back to London in 2005. My roommate and I got all dolled-up and headed over to Her Majesty’s Theater to see the amazing performance. Attending theaters with incredible architecture is a treat, let alone seeing an amazing performance.
Tampa Theater is located in Tampa, Florida and set the stage perfectly (no pun intended) for this beautiful engagement shoot. What an incredible idea to rent out a local theater for an engagement shoot or wedding. If you live in the Tampa area, you are in luck! This particular 1926 theater can be rented out for such an event.
Engagement Shoot at Tampa Theater
“Garrett and I have been together for 6 years. We decided to take a trip to the beach on Easter weekend to get away from the madness of work, school, and life. As soon as we arrived to the condo, I started to unpack so we could get ready for dinner when I heard a ‘ping’ when I asked what happen Garrett said, ‘Oh, I think something fell off the counter.’ This was my engagement ring he was checking out to make sure that it made a safe car trip in his pocket!
“Later that evening, I could tell he was a little nervous, but we were having fun at one of our favorite restaurants. He mentioned that when we got back to the hotel that he wanted to go sit by the water and listen to music.
“So when we got back we made our way down to a private section of the beach. We realized as we sat by the ocean that we have always gone to the beach to escape our crazy lives, but we never actually went to the beach – this was our first time at the beach. We aren’t normal beach people… since we were going to the beach at 11pm at night to stare out into the darkness with the beautiful Sunshine Skyway all lit up.
“So what do tourists do at the beach?
“Take pictures of the beautiful scenery of course. So, Garrett decided that he wanted to take pictures of me looking out at the bridge with all different kinds of crazy poses of course so he could stall. He was trying to get the ring out of his pocket and having a hard time.
“Finally, he told me the last pose he wanted was one that looked like I was about to fly away. Then he got very quiet so I turned around concerned that something happen but when I turned around he was on one knee, holding the engagement ring, and with a huge smile on his face. He said, ‘So, I was thinking we would get married or something…’
“It was totally his personality and I wouldn’t of had it any other way!”
