Wedding Story
Today’s Texas Hill country wedding had it all – a gorgeous sunset, flower maidens, and lavender fields for days. We love the Spanish style wedding charm and the vista views for the ceremony!
Overall Ceremony and Reception Theme
“The overall theme of our wedding was to have a fresh and natural feeling, while still having elegant and romantic elements. The venue, Rancho Mirando, played a large role in cultivating this experience for us because it was an old world, Spanish style ranch with a lavender farm and amazing views. All we did was arrange the right flowers, outfits, and food to go along with this experience.”
What types of flowers did you have?
“I used dried lavender, white roses, lavender roses, purple Peruivan lilies, and succulents for all the centerpieces, which I all bought from Sams Club, and I arranged them the day before the wedding. The girls had roses and wax flower in their hair, the guys had succulent boutonnieres, and I had roses and baby’s breath in my hair.”
Who designed the wedding dress?
“I wore a bridal gown from Maggie Sottero and instead of a veil, I wore fresh flowers in my hair. For my jewelry I wore a rosary around my wrist that my mother gave to me for confirmation, along with white sapphire and diamond earrings from my mother-in-law.
“I wore Antonio Melani wedge shoes. Wedges are basically required at the venue because the terrain is so rough. These particular shoes were pretty AND super comfortable, which I feel is a requirement on your special day.”
What did you give your bridesmaids as a gift?
“I am a custom jeweler by profession, so I made one custom silver piece for each bridesmaid to go with their dress and personality. I also had matching flower, pearl and diamond rings for the moms, one with a white pearl the other with a pink pearl.
“My three flower maidens (who are my nieces) got double stranded pearl bracelets with gold fill clasps. Each bracelet was a little different. In addition to the jewelry, all the ladies got gift boxes with shawls, nail polish, lotion, perfume, and silk pjs and kimonos.”
Wedding Invitations
“We made them ourselves. Both my husband and I are pretty savvy with Photoshop and illustrator.”
Describe the Groom’s Attire
“All the guys wore the grey tuxedo from Men’s Wearhouse. Groomsmen had grey neckties and povket squares. Groom had a champagne colored tie and vest.”
Describe the Bridesmaids’ Attire
“The bridesmaid and flower maidens were all in long chiffon dresses that were very flowing when they walked. All the bridesmaids wore lavender and the flower maidens were a lighter pinky purple color. All the bridesmaids picked their own style of dress and shoes, which helped them feel more comfortable with buying and wearing their outfits. Flower maidens all had the same dress but picked their own shoes.”
Wedding Favors
“We gave them the photos from the photo booth. It was huge hit!”
Which pieces of music did you use during the ceremony?
“We had a harpist playing all our music. The wedding party entered to various pieces of Bach. I entered to Across the Universe, and we all departed to Fireflies.”
What were the highlights from the ceremony and reception?
“Other than the obvious, like the family and friends and the whole getting married thing, it was probably all the birds at the ranch. Every peacock, turkey, goose and chicken were sounding off right in the middle of the vows. It made everyone laugh and contributed to the playful mood of our event. As for the reception it just had to be the great time that everyone had. It made all that hard work and planning well worth it.”
Best advice you received while planning your wedding?
“The best advice was probably to enjoy your day, because it will be over before you know it.”
