The details of Andrew and Danielle’s non-traditional wedding were planned from the heart! Each aspect of the decor came from a part of their lives, including the wedding arch and the old china plates. The many non-traditional details make this wedding special and personal.
Here are some words from Danielle: “Andrew and I knew we wanted our wedding to be very personal and non-traditional. From our wedding date (Andrew’s grandparent’s fifty-first wedding anniversary) to our wedding officiant (the friend who introduced us), each aspect of our day represented everything and everyone dear to our hearts.
“I’m a children’s librarian and Andrew a dabbling musician, so our vows featured a reading of The Heart in the Bottle by Oliver Jeffers and an acoustic performance of Let My Love Open the Door by Pete Townsend. Andrew’s high school band even reunited to rock a set of covers later in the evening.”
“Our original style morphed from a funky, backyard picnic type of affair to a more natural style that better fit our venue’s lush surroundings. The day was made super special in that family had a hand in every detail. My sisters spray painted clothespins and wrapped burlap and lace around mason jars, Andrew’s brother built and transported platforms for the ceremony, my mother collected vintage plates for the cupcakes, and my dad painted signs and did much of the set-up. My family and I made all the flower arrangement with flowers we purchased from Trader Joe’s the day before the wedding. The bower we were married under was made by Andrew with branches he cut from our backyard tree, and decorated with hydrangeas from my sister’s garden.”
